I was a bit surprised (in the good sense) Saturday at the attendance-especially having gotten walloped the past two weeks and minimal chance at a bowl game. I think this bodes well going forward (but the policies)...
1) Yes it WAS homecoming but I didn't see too much evidence of such affecting attendance. On the way into the stadium I saw a RAA tent with about 10 people at it. There were a few recent grad types at R tailgate that had supposedly come to party and weren't supposedly going n but..
2) The students represented well. Don't know if both sides of the stadium are supposed to be students but the one end zone was packed-and loud. I though Hobbs' $10 offer would help but actually few were in their seats 30 minutes before gametime (I guess everyone snuck an empty bottle in and sav ed $6 THAT way). That said it seemed pretty much all students were in their seats.
3) Season ticketholders represented. Granted "we" are already paid up, many come for the tailgating and it WAS great weather. However I still didn't really see more than the normal amount (maybe a tad more) of empty seats.
4) Overall attendance, given the season and woes on offense, wasn't horrendous. Planty of empty sections/parts but for the most part those same sections were empty for the 1st two games. The sideline lower sections were fairly full. Also, though the demographic are a bit different I didn't realize that ""The Hunt (Far Hills Race Meet)" was Saturday and drew 40,000. That may have cost RU a few hundred fans.,
