No, this one.

I also have Coppi and Bartali.

Yes I've seen that one before! I choose to get the one I have as they are drinking beer. Our cycling gang are all craft beer fans. Our "rest stops" are local breweries or craft beer bars.

I believe that they are drinking beer or wine in mine too.

You guys would love it here western NC.

Two of my co-workers were on a business trip to Cezanne France and in Paris that day. They told me that they were unaware of what was going on and missed it all! I would have given my left nut to have been there.

Hugh fan of Greg Lemond but no one rode clean. That was the norm. I call it an even playing field.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Lemond also. We saw him win the Nevada City (CA) Classic in the early 80’s I think it was (he was maybe 18) and it was obvious he was a tremendous talent. I know there has always been cheating of some sort but I believe Lemond rode clean.

Terrific time trial by Vingegaard today.

Terrific time trial by Vingegaard today.
I met and took a ride with Greg Lemond (and Christie Whitman) when he was inducted into the US Cycling hall of fame in Somerville. He signed a poster for me at the event. It will be framed and added to my gallery. (See my other posts in this thread.)

Regarding his doping, I have no proof just assumption. You may be right.

Regarding Vingegaard's TT. Totally unexpected and awesome. He is solidly in control now. If he doesn't crack tomorrow he wins.

I love the grand tours.

Jonas really put the hammer down today. I thought Tadej was supposed to the time trial rider. He also posted a strong time but Jonas was just a lot better. Was not expecting either rider to gap the other by that much in this race.

I don't recall the bike switching during time trials once approaching the uphill section of the course. I don't think Jonas made a switch. Another tough day of climbing tomorrow. Tadej needs shave off considerable time otherwise this might be over.

The bike changing isn't new but becoming more prevalent on Time Trial rides with hills. TT bikes are light and fast but also a bit unstable. They aren't made for climbing hills.

LeMond and the 1989 team were tested and came out clean.
Of course people knew how to beat tests already back then (cycling was considered college for PEDs).
However LeMond had a sketchy relationship with one team because they wanted him to dope and he wouldn't. Plus the way he made exposing Armstrong a public crusade I think he could have been exposed himself. I would have to assume he was clean and lucky for him he had the aerodynamic edge for a year.

1989 article :

"Already beset by injuries and illness, Greg LeMond was further distressed last year because he feared his team, PDM of the Netherlands, would try to improve his lagging performances by tricking him into using a banned drug, the American cyclist’s attorney said Monday.

Although LeMond’s break with PDM, the sport’s dominant team, was primarily the result of a financial dispute, Ron Stanko of Reading, Pa., said the cyclist was believed to be out of the contract before this year because of his philosophical differences with the team’s officials regarding banned substances."

Been watching the TDF since around 2000 when Lance was starting to do his thing. Love THE Tour! Professional cyclist are amazing athletes. Have to ride a bicycle more than 2-3 mile on flat roads in flip flops to appreciate what these guys do! Up and down REAL mountains, in the wind, in the rain, in the heat for 21 days. Crazy. Been on vacation the past 10 days so missed all the fun. Too bad for Cav, but in a way for personal reasons was hoping he would not pass Eddie.

I am in Somerville all the time and always take a look over at Greg’s bike in the glass enclosed monument.

Jonas dropped the hammer today and this TDF is over.

Pogacar got dropped.

Jonas lead over 7 minutes.

LeMond was brutal in his criticism of Armstrong. He pissed off a lot of people for that and turned out to be right. I have a lot of respect for him.

He was and I was almost tired of it
I recall winners being QG'ed and they couldn't award the race to other guys because they werer busted too. Who was clean? I realized how bad things were when Landis got DQ'ed after conspicuously flying way ahead on a mountain stage. Truth is most guys are small and in great shape so its hard to get an edge without a secret sauce.

I liked Spartacus, Cavendish, Jens Voigt and some others but now I just cant care. Now you see guys crash in othger races and their wheel keep spinning because they have motors hidden

The Landis thing really pissed me off. I wanted to like the guy and did - interesting backstory, etc. Then he pulled that stunt and tried to blame it on drinking a bottle of whiskey the night before, iirc.

I haven't seen today's stage yet but yesterday's was something else. Among other things, that stuck car/motorbike fiasco at the last summit was astounding. I loved Vande Veld's description of it. Same with Vingegaard's in the interview - something like "you put a 20% grade at the summit, stuff's going to happen". Mattresses lining that really bad corner. And then Pogacar dropping an f-bomb on the live, world tv feed. Priceless.

Finally, Vande Veld on the moto has just been great. He just needs to give more credit to his driver.

So the Tour de France officially ended today. I like all the celebrations during the early part of the race. Then it's kind of boring until they hit Paris then all hell breaks out.
Two in a row for Vinegegaard is impressive. His TT Tuesday was historical.
Now onto the World Championship in just a few weeks. Normally it takes place in September but was moved up for some reason.
This year's host is Scotland. I was trying to go but airfaires to Europe were through the roof.

Don’t forget the Vuelta, which starts 8/26 iirc. I’ve really enjoyed watching that race the last couple of years. On Peacock.

Back to the tour, the post stage interview with Mohoric the other day was amazing. Talk about letting his raw emotions and honesty out. And in a non native language at that.

I hope next years tour has Vingegaard, Pogacar, Evenepoel and Roglic all together. That would be interesting.

What make the Vuelta exciting to me is Remco defending his title. This after it wasn't on his original season schedule but his early exit from the Giro because of Covid, so his schedule changed. I'm a big fan of Remco. Have known about him for years before last season, huge fan of his. There is a cycling bar in the village Geraardsbergen, Belgium (Home of the Muur) called Bar Gidon who has been the official home of Remco's fan club for years (2018). Owned by former professional cyclist Fred Penne. He and his wife Elsje are the nicest people in the world.
However, my favorite rider is Wout van Aert. His year calendar has two things circled. The birth of his second child and after, winning the World Championship!
Let go Wout!

So next year the final will be a time trial in Nice, France! Because of the Olympics in Paris.

Next up is the World Championships. For the first time ever all 13 cycling platforms will be run during the next 11 days in Scotland! It starts tomorrow with qualifying for BMX. The biggest event, the Men's Elite Road Championship is this Sunday. So not a lot of rest time for those that road the TDF. Can't wait!

From what I've been able to find, it looks like Flobike is the only way to watch the World Championships. The elite men's road race is the only thing I'm interested in and Flobike seems to be $29/month or $160/yr? Anyone know any other way to watch it. Youtube after the race?

Unfortunately live, yes in the US Flobike is the only choice but it will be on YouTube later as many people will post it.
The UCI needs to correct this. They need to have one streaming service for the year. I'd have no problem if I got all the cyclocross, spring classics, tours and championships for $160 a year. However it is split into about 6 or 7 providers.

Totally agree but doubt it ever happens. I did GCN+ for a year at a discount and will flip Peacock off and on as the race schedules allow.
