I'm about to hit the big 7 O in a couple of weeks.

As some of you know (Fanny, Al) I'm still active (I have my own business) and have been in a relationship with my college flame for over 4 years now.

Recently, I became obsessed with Ed Sheeran's song, Thinking out Loud. In particular I love the music / LOVED the WORDS....until:

There was a reference that "he would love her until he was 70"! Is he kidding?
This has created a $^#& $torm #* moment for me / my finance- who is 66 (and still looks great).
Do I have to leave her because at 70 I need to move on? Does she want someone else...younger (who isn't)? Am I incapable of loving her or anyone now because I've reached the expiration date...isn't that what Viagra's for?

Does Sheeran think that love stops at 70?
Tell it Mick Jagger who father a baby at 72 and is now 73, or Ronnie Woods who will be 69 when the baby is born. Tell it to Pablo Picassso, Charlie Chaplin, or the man or woman sitting in at theater or cocktail lounge next to you ....or just shopping at Macy's , Nordstroms or walking down the street
(agism sucks....and at some point it will happen to you- unless you die first!). You're not voiceless nor invisible...till you are!

NO! Sheeran needs to think a little about 45 years into his future....

Lucklly I've rewritten that line and I believe it improves the song immensely:

And darling I will be loving you just like we were 17 ('til we're 70)
And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 103 (23)
And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Oh me I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am

Instead of getting into the sentimental sad songs about getting too old, get into this guys music. He would think you're a young kid.

Wait. Why are you listening to Ed Sheeran? That right there is your first mistake...

Actually LOVE the cover by Boyce Ave. Also liked a country group (and I'm not a country fan) called Home Free that mashed up Thinking Out Loud / Let's Get it On.

Think Sheryl Crow has a good response for this type of question: "My Favorite Mistake".

Love good songs...and this one is very good- La Vida (Coldplay) good.

This board has more Ed Sheeran talk than I would have expected.

I can accept Taylor Swift talk, if there are nice photos.

Here's a thought for you old man.

When Spencer Tracy appeared in "The Old Man and the Sea" it was 1968 and he was 58 and only made it to 67. But at 58.. he was not playing "older".. no special makeup.. he looked the part that Hemingway described.

You got him beat. Good luck on the rest of the journey.

Loved Tracy in "Inherit the Wind".
