Do you really think they made their mortgage payment on the American Dream? It's not reported because it's not public information. The Mall of America loan was securitized and servicers have to report everything. You guys need to do your research before acting like Mr Know It All, American Dream Mall did not miss their mortgage payment, it is Mall of America which is own by the same family
If that be true then there should never be reason for all the borrowing and delays and overlays which occurred for years . Just make the malls into low income- affordable housing destinations .You guys need to do your research before acting like Mr Know It All, American Dream Mall did not miss their mortgage payment, it is Mall of America which is own by the same family
The tide is turning against them? ...the economy of New Jersey is not a game from Milton Bradley... those people who had pride for New Jersey ( and there are a few left) loved the things we had grown to love. Great food choices , nice communities ,lower crime rates , safety for our children who spent HOURS outside playing , a outstanding educational system, less poverty and homelessness, far less drug abuse and a belief we could overcome any adversity. You DON’T have that now ... seems a large group is bent on the fall of our way of life ... love that socialism. They root for NJ to fail and then wonder why people don't have pride in RU.
The tide is turning against them thankfully.
I think NJ pride is higher and better than ever.
May be true but only some will benefit from a housing boom. Drug addiction , alcohol addiction, crime will eat into any gains the minority classes gain ... oh I ‘m sorry ... we want a classless feudal system because that always works.NJ home prices is headed for the biggest price increase since 2005.
Nobody is Mr No It All ... have followed this since day one...it was destined for failure long before it began..You guys need to do your research before acting like Mr Know It All, American Dream Mall did not miss their mortgage payment, it is Mall of America which is own by the same family

tom1944 knows why New Jersey doesn’t have a pot to piss in... going to get interesting next year... you will see even more people leave NJ and Metro NY...
Read what I said please ...I believe this to be true....I have all I need here in New Jersey my children, grand children, my home , great restaurants and if I want to travel into the city for shows and sports other than Rutgers if it was available to us ... pre pandemic I was able to travel for years to multiple destinations and for that I am grateful. Some people have for the moment forgotten that this country of ours is still the best in the World ...if it wasn’t you would not have the clamor of immigrants wanting to come here... Are we a perfect society no ...show me a more perfect society... we have had our faults, disagreements and even civil war... and yet as long as I can afford the tax structure of New Jersey and my neighborhood remains variably stable and safe I’m in for the long haul... People from other states view NJ as ( New York) we are so much different.... they fly into Newark and what do they see? They drive up the NJ Pike and what do they see? There is much more to NJ... but still many and not Boomers will be leaving to raise their families and what is unfortunately happening... Here’s the thing... I live in town of many races , creeds and skin colors and even with all going on we still talk and listen to each other. Unhappy with the initial cause but realizing burning and destroying is NOT the way to correct injustice past and present.Aren't you a guy who chastises people for moving out of NJ? Don't answer, you are.
Now you're all in on the big migration narrative, huh?
Yes I’m crazy... crazy for attempting to converse with a moron... read what I said... If I chastised anyone it was because people with philosophical mindsets such as yours are unable to agree with anything unless it leans far left... last time I will answer your infantile postings... grow up and grow a set ...Oh, now I get it. You're just crazy and have no idea what you're talking about. No reason to expect any consistency from post to post.

I was pointing out the fact that home prices are going up because more people are moving into NJ. Can't comment on all that other stuff you said.May be true but only some will benefit from a housing boom. Drug addiction , alcohol addiction, crime will eat into any gains the minority classes gain ... oh I ‘m sorry ... we want a classless feudal system because that always works.
It less that and more the need to be noticed. It’s a trait shorties all possess.Yes I’m crazy... crazy for attempting to converse with a moron... read what I said... Wait aren’t you in the crowd who cried like a colicky child when Trump won...we’re going to leave ? these fools were always going to stay... so you want to let every illegal , miscreant scumbag into the country but I should leave. Nah... I’ve have too much love for my ancestors, their European roots and what they helped others build... plus after serving in the military, being educated here, marrying, raising children and being debt free ... no I’m here for the duration.Yeah...um we have all of that and then some.
The irony of the socialism mention on a board for sports at a STATE university is precious.
If you don't like NJ...you can leave.

They could have used that money to build a beautiful park, make countless improvements to schools, feed the homeless, invest in urban communities. The list goes on and on and it actually makes you sick.
What did you just wake up ? “ not because they’re a maker ?” ...you’ve been a JO waaaaay before this pandemic...a constant instigator searching for his niche in the world...believe me you would be honored to live next door to me...go back into your hole .You guys can't help yourself but get into politics after the mods specifically asked you not to.
Would rather have an undocumented person as my neighbor like you, and not just because they're a maker.
Let's be serious, this is NJ/Trenton, so this money would have been flushed down the toilet even if it wasn't blow on this retail nightmare.Or a rail tunnel into NYC
I asked the same question earlier and I don’t think anyone knows on this board. The majority of the cost is absorbed by the developers and maybe the state might absorb some cost but I assume they considered the sunk cost already in the project. The current owner put up 49% of Mall of America and another Canada Mall as collateral for America Dream.Early this year I bought 5 tickets in advance to the aquarium they were going to open in American Dream. I think it was supposed to open in late March. Not sure I want to go in the near future even if they do get their act together.
I have often wondered about the financial involvement of the NJ Sports & Exposition group relative to the American Dream. Did they 'own' the land the complex is built on? Are they financially on the hook for any potential losses? They have depleted their revenue generators since they were established: Race track was originally thoroughbreds and trotters, now only trotters. Arena was home to Nets and Devils, no only occasional concerts. Giants stadium was sold(?) to the Giants who privately financed MetLife. If they wind up with a financial hit, how much of that will be given to us taxpayers?
Well who didn't see this coming? No one except nj.com who were obviously getting paid to shill for the place. There's also an article on nj.com that I linked below where it states they've missed their last three mortgage payments.
This last sentence sums it up:
“This is something that should have never been approved and they just kept pushing forward on it.”

this never needed to happen.
the feudal lords and debt holders fked everything up.
all mortgages and rents, both residential and commercial so that includes mortgages on all rental property as well, and all loan pmts, could have been put on pause this whole time. (especially with near zero interest rates today).
but the feudal lords and loan holders have the most power over all govts, and do
n't feel they should share in the suffering in the slightest with those they lend to, so the best and most blatantly obvious solution never happened.
those at the top of the food chain put all the burden and suffering on those beneath them, and the govt just let them despite all the bailing out and subsidization and zero interest loans and buying up all their bad debt they have gotten from the govt.
beyond disgraceful plutocracy governance.
Would the real estate taxes have been put on hold?
Would the wages to the supers et. al. have been put on hold?
Would the gas and electricity bills have been put on hold?
Just curious. What is wrong with the current structure? I agree it never should have been built but it's a very nice facility. Just cursed. The numbers are staggering - from obviously the cost over the years to the admission to the parts that opened. The actual structure leaves you scratching your head. This project is a truly cursed money pit - just knock it down and put a giant gravestone as a warning of what NOT to do.
Good 18 minute mini-documentary on it.....
Abandoned: American Dream Mall
Just curious. What is wrong with the current structure? I agree it never should have been built but it's a very nice facility. Just cursed.
Interesting. Is that first hand knowledge? Just weird since it contradicts everything I have heard.Since the project started so long ago some of it is outdated and there is rust and mildew throughout. There are also imperfections construction wise within the mall.
Well most of the main structure is 10-15 years old and was vacant, not properly maintained, and some sections left to the elements. So it seems likely to be true. The video covers this topic and is well researched via public sources and materials.Interesting. Is that first hand knowledge? Just weird since it contradicts everything I have heard.
I saw that but to be fair they referenced the parking garage for the rust/mold/mildew (which would impact any project in this country built around the same time) and the one piece of railing. I could find that same issue with any other new construction. I get that people think it should never have been built (and I am one of them) but the video was just another lazy piece we see today. It’s here so I really hope it succeeds. Also, what’s wrong with having a water park in this area? As a skier I was hoping to use the slopes this spring/summer. Nothing even close like those around here.Well most of the main structure is 10-15 years old and was vacant, not properly maintained, and some sections left to the elements. So it seems likely to be true. The video covers this topic and is well researched via public sources and materials.
Really? That is great news. Thanks for the update.Got an email from Big Snow. The slopes are reopening Tuesday September 1.
BUT ITS ALL MULCAHY AND SCHIANO'S FAULT!!!!!!!!Well who didn't see this coming? No one except nj.com who were obviously getting paid to shill for the place. There's also an article on nj.com that I linked below where it states they've missed their last three mortgage payments.
