Cashman just had, arguably, the best trade-deadline week of any GM out there.

If they had dumped his dumb ass they were going to pay his dumb ass. He received a league-imposed suspension without pay for 162 games. No way that any court or judge would uphold the Yankees trying to impose an additional penalty.
Every GM has a bad contract or 2 on their team. It's the nature of the free agent market and overpayment for players' services. I.e. Ppl are going to be paid like superstars even though they aren't superstars. Cashman has been Impreserve with his recent moves for rebuilding the Yankees, no doubt
Agreed and it doesn't necessarily have to be ego. The relationship between the two sort of reminds me of the relationship between Brian Fortay and RU/The NCAA.
Maybe a worse player like the last few years. The same thing can be said about a lot of players such as Mantle/Billy Martin/ Ruth? Alcohol). I think ARODs crime was mostly acting like a narcissistic D-Bag (think Brian Fortay/Miami/RU to an extent)
