OT: Best donuts in NJ

I'm tired of these so called donuts. Dunkin Donuts was the king back in the 70's. I remember my dad going early Saturday morning for a dozen. Maybe paid 2.99 for a dozen if that. Now they are up to 9.99 lol smfh.
They were also big back then. Any so many varieties then now. Toasted coconut, buttercrunch, oh so good. Now its all glazed eewww.
Back in the day bakeries had some big robust donuts. I remember going down the shore for a week and there was a bakery that served huge donuts. Yum
If I pick up a donut now its at Wawa. Their donuts are fair to what else I see.
Krispy Kreme are the size of a hockey puck now and too sweet.
I just saw the pics of those donuts in the thread. IMO donuts are not coated with cereal especially cocopuffs and Flinstones. Give me the old fashioned classics please.

Those Wawa apple fritters can feed a family of four. Love those

They used to have these big round cinnabon type donuts with cream cheese topping . Almost would pass out eating them but they have been MIA for the past 4 months.

Gosh, that jelly donut looks amazing! I can't eat the donuts with all that crap on them..I was eating a toasted coconut donut a day last summer when we were at the beach house. They weren't the best but made me happy. Lol I forget the name of the shop. The part I liked was they are made to order, not fried in any animal gunk and 3 doors down from the house.

Jelly donuts are the best. Has to be strawberry not grape and granular not powdered sugar. Many a late night coming home from the Meadowlands and picking up 2 jelly donuts at DD for me and my dog.

yes wtf happened to donuts, they pile all this crap on top of it that shouldnt be there, why do do donuts have a 6 inch topping..what is that and can anyone tell me who started that

Give me an old fashioned glazed donut or a nice jelly donut and it will make me happy

Pennslyvania Dutch stand in Flemington has some great donuts but even they have bought into the trends with topping but still make plenty of normal donuts

They make the best apple and blueberry fritters. In fact the whole place is a favorite of mine, so many good eats there

MAKE DONUTS GREAT AGAIN

Curiosity Doughnuts sells at Princeton Whole Foods on Sunday’s and are really good. Not sure if they’re in the Stockton market any longer. Spring and Vine in New Hope also makes really good vegan doughnuts.

Vegan doughnuts? Shame on you, c’mon man.

F & M Bakery in Delran have really good jelly donuts. Haven't had any in quite some time. A roadtrip from North Jersey.

Keep in mind, I love raw store bought chocolate chip cookie dough right out of the container....lol

I seem to love everything that’s really bad for you.

I like bakery donuts myself, not round lard from Dunkin Donuts. Did Krispy Kreme close some of their New Jersey locations . Brick had one on Route 70 near the Met.

Shout out to D’Erecole. In addition to being awesome they’re also peanut free (my oldest is allergic). Great donuts, creative choices. Plus, the place doubles as a farm and garden store.

Has anyone had a doughnut from OB-CO's in Toms River on Fischer Blvd.? Used to pass it on the way to the shore all the time. Always a line when it was open (they have odd hours) but I never actually stopped there.

You wouldn’t believe it to look at it, it’s a hole in the wall, but The Plainfield Donut ship is terrific. Classic donuts, no crazy toppings. Bought a half dozen the other day for a whopping $4 - and they are not small.

As a kid my mom bought all kinds of Entenmanns every week

Is that store on Pompton Tpk in Little Falls still there?
They have some outlet stores with VERY low prices. Haven’t been over that way for a while but there is one on Route 27 in either Edison or Metuchen near a 7 11.

Had a college roommate who had a part-time warehouse job over on 27 and would always stop at that outlet after work. A lot of stuff less than half-price. Love those big chocolate covered doughnuts - the corner stone of any nutritious breakfast.

Best donuts were always when we were at the beach. The bakery in Bay Head and Beach Haven I always remember fondly.

We used to go to Freedmans on route 35 either Ortley or Lavalette

They all closed I believe

I'm so old I can remember the excitement surrounding the opening of Mickey's Donutland on Rte. 18 in East Brunswick back in the early Sixties.
Good times.
