OT: Best restaurant by NJ county

middlesex county - Catherine Lombardi New Brunswick
Love it there. First time I went, none other than "Thirsty Dick" McCormick was seated at the next table, too. Terrific food and great cocktails, too.

Cape May - Washington Inn or Ebbitt Room (for breakfast it's the Mad Batter)
Have you been to Washington Inn recently? The last time I was there, we were terribly disappointed, and once I started asking people about it, I found many others who were, too. Sometimes places remain past their peak. Then again, that was maybe two years ago, and maybe they've rebounded.

The Ebbitt Room is top notch, though, and who does a better breakfast anywhere in the state than The Mad Batter (who also has my favorite happy hour deals, too)?

Gloucester County= Nino Gervasi/Arugula
Camden County= Zepoli/Capital Grille
Burlington County= Osteria (moved back to Philly)
Salem= Dipaolo's is friggin awesome@
If I ever want to get out of the doghouse at home, I only have to suggest a trip to Zeppoli to make my wife forget why she hates me. It's terrific. Many say it's the best Italian restaurant in the state.

union county - Garlic Rose Cranford
middlesex county - Catherine Lombardi New Brunswick
Somerset county - Water and Wine Watchung
Have to disagree with your pick for Union County. Garlic Rose is good, but not even the best in Cranford.

To each his own, though. Makes the thread fun.

God I miss living in Jersey.

All I get is ketchup with noodles up here in New England

Haven't been there in a few years, so maybe they've changed hands and gone downhill. I remember with great joy the three times that I'd eaten there, but have heard some things along the lines of what you said.

Meaning from a Culinary or "Review" standpoint?

I'll offer two from Somerset (fine dining)

Pluckemin Inn - Pluckemin
Ninety Acres - Peapack

A great secret about Ninety Acres is that they have a children's menu - great event and dinner for the kids about $7.

Absolutely NOT high-brow, but if you want gourmet burgers and great wings, The Committed Pig in Morristown stands alone. Easily, my favorite in Morris County.

I heard this place is incredible! I just haven't had an occasion to go there. So for now I will say Buona Sera in Red Bank.
Both very good. For Steak in Monmouth it is for me Danny's in Red Bank. Also Pazzo in Red Bank for Italian is also very good. Try the made fresh daily pasta.

Cape May - Mad Batter hands down is the best breakfast, the red store in cape may point is pretty great as well

lunch - George's Place

Dinner - Oyster Bay, The Pier House, or Tisha's

I didn't realize Buona Sera had good food. The only thing I know about that place is my wife's divorced friends go there most Saturday nights looking to get laid.
Now, I'm sure that's not true ... shame on you.

On a completely unrelated note, does anyone have the address of Buona Sera in Red Bank?

I've been there 3 times. The 1st two visits were great. The 3rd a couple years later was really disappointing. Haven't been back since as I've heard others say it isn't near what it used to be.

Monmouth - Yumi.
Nicholas is good. But I wouldnt go back. Price to value ratio is more than a little off.

Absolutely....this thread is great...More importantly want to know what you think is better.....I am always looking for new places to try.

nothing to add to the conversation other than I would say while I enjoyed our meal at Nicholas in Red Bank I would hardly say it was the best meal I ever had. Not even close.
That's where we ate with the mayor and his wife?

Give me a NJ county and the best restaurant or eating establishment (any type of food) in that county.
Middlesex- Stage Left.

My favorite hamburger. I usually order some light sides. like their thick bacon, steak fries, and fantastick lobster and crab mac and cheese.

Wait really??? I'm in my 20s. I need to get over there on Saturday nights before I age out.
He said divorced not hot, complete cougar sh*tshow. The guys are pretty pathetic too. Picture Tony Soprano shirt buttoned down, chest hair sticking out dancing horribly. Full disclosure mid 40's divorced have seen it with my own eyes. Food is good nothing to make you want to go back to witness the trainwreck.

I go there a lot for business dinners. It is good. Does t blow me away.

How the restaurant transforms on Thursday night into the biggest Cougar / Real Housewives of NJ hangout is pretty impressive.

The ebbitt room is one of my favorites..... my number one place is 410 bank street, but I could understand if some are not into their style.... I will always remember the time I went and tried a blacken fish for the first time, and was blown away.

Walked past that Japanese/Chinese place hundreds of times and never went in..... Might give it a try....

So many great one's in Monmouth but I will go with a newer one - Tommy's Tavern and Tap in sea bright. It's a gem.
