How much mark up do you think exists on a CPO with about 6k miles? Listed for 48K, original Sticker was 53ish.

I've heard some guys work this car down to 43k when buying new. Thoughts?

I leased a 428i convertible (2015) last September that had about 7k miles on it. If memory serves they knocked about $10k off list. The 2016 models were already out.
What do you mean by "cpo "?

CPO is Certified Pre-Owned

Mine was being used by the dealership as opposed to having been previously sold to someone
Not sure that makes a difference as long as the original warranty is in place

I just had a similar experience with a Honda Odyssey. It was being used by the dealer's wife for a few months and sold to me with like 5K miles on it. It could be sold as "new" because it had never been titled. It matters in that now I can still say I am the original owner if I ever want to sell it and a title check would support that claim. Whether that's worth anything I'm not sure, but that's the deal as I understand it.

I don't understand the 428/435 "grand coupe". I thought the 4 series were for those looking for a two door/ four seater and those that want a sedan - four door/ five seater can get the 3 or 5 series (or 7 series). Why build a "grand coupe"? Same thing with the 6 series grand coupe - makes no sense.

sleeker styling/ less head room in back seat. Looks better than a 3 series IMO.

contact greg poland at pacific bmw in glendale at gregpoland@pacificbmw.com, and he'll give you a great deal, as he has for a number of BMW owners, at bimmerfest.com, a website for BMW enthusiasts. You might want to pose your question there.

The car will soon be replaced by the BMW 430 for 2017, so you should be able to strike a great deal.

I had previously driven BMW's many moons ago and there was basically the 3, 5 and 7 series (this was before the SUV craze). When I decided to go back to the brand last year I was very surprised to see how many different variations they have.

In the hard top, the 4 door 428i looks great, but you really have to duck to get in the back seat. With the hard top convertible, the car looks good with the top up and even better with it down.

that 650 gran coupe is a monster. got to drive it for a few hours on a business trip in Texas. unfortunately, its the worst car i've ever driven when trying to blow someone off the line. guy pulled up next to me at a light in his mustang, looked at me, revved the engine, i figure, wth, it's not my car...so light turns green...i mash the gas...but have to wait for the f'ing motor to cut back on before it leaves. when it did, i reeled him in quick and blew past him after a couple hundred feet. for a close to 4500lb car, it handles nicely, plenty of power. it looks better than a 5 series too.

BMW has been crazy since about 2005.

so you needed to turn it into sport mode and the engine would have been ready for you right away. Lol

But you at least got him in "eco" mode so that is still something to brag about.

definitely wasn't in Eco mode...i wouldn't have known how to turn on Eco mode...there were so many damn buttons and on-screen controls that i ignored all of it, put the sucker in drive and mashed the gas.

Sorry not trying to argue but i'm almost 100% certain that the auto-stop on the engine wouldn't work. Unless you are describing something different when you mentioned you were waiting for the engine to cut back on? Plus it could have already been in eco mode so you didnt have to "turn" it on. Its essentially a setting that you can select and not worry about. I believe bmw has "comfort", "dynamic(Sport), and "Eco"

They change the steering feel, and the engine rev levels, engine auto stop functionality. At least thats what it did on the 4 series i test drove.

definitely auto-stop/start. it was a 2014 and apparently you had to explicitly turn it off each time you start the car back then.

Put it in "sport" mode as soon as you start the engine and it automatically removes the horseshit engine-turnoff setting. Nothing says "fvkc me" like not being able to accelerate at an intersection when you have to get across, or into, traffic.

That feature is a dealbreaker for me. I decide when to turn the car off. A car that turns itself off is, by definition, broken.

Understandable, but given the ridiculous amount of time the vehicle's computer takes to check itself and get things up and running (a minute for the radio/thumb drive to come on, the same for the bluetooth to kick on), it makes me feel good to have control over something, even if it's an illusion.

A minute? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa..?

You need to get new Germans. My car is fully up and running, from cold start, in less than 10 seconds.

This is correct, you have to turn off the start/stop feature.

428 is under powered in my opinion.

Yup. I recently picked up a CPO 2014 S4 with the 6-speed, and am quite pleased with it thus far.

To answer the OP's question, CPO seems to add $2-5k to the cars asking price, depending on the model, year & mileage. The peace of mind with an extra two years of warranty past the original one and thorough mechanical/electrical/system CPO check is definitely worth at least some of that increase in value.

BMW developed the Eco mode in order to meet fuel consumption requirements. In my car there is a on off button above the ignition button and you have to hit that to turn Eco mode on. I rarely use it unless I hit that button in error when starting the car. Big difference in acceleration in Sport Mode.
