Most usually avoid the NFL like the plague and who wants to put up their marquee event against it. You don’t think there’s some overlap in some viewers between both. Why would they want to make their fans choose and dilute the audience of their top event. You can say nothing else on but there’s a lot of programming you could say that about but they don’t draw those kind of numbers even if nothing else is on.
Day of the week is less of a problem than just having more of the country have interest in the teams and having more variety of teams in the game. College football is too top heavy and they need it to be at least a little less so. If that happened the numbers could improve.
You can say my view is poor on tv or whatever I don’t care. Plenty of things I felt could happen as it relates to tv ended up happening. I thought we’d get in the B10 when many here got panicked with each BE defection. I said I could see the B10 split their tier 1 rights between two networks. I said when the ACC lost Maryland it’s not them who is the weakest (quite a few here thought they were crumbling) it’s the B12 because of the small geographic footprint etc..I don’t pretend to be an expert but think I have a reasonable feel of how things are. People in charge would rather not go up against the NFL, crappy NFL games or not.
