OT: ESPN 30 for 30 - The Gospel According to Mac

I watched it last night. Skimmed a few sections, but it was really interesting to see the details of those two big teams in 89 and 90. I remember some of it, but I was in middle/high school then. I knew the original QB died, but not that he knocked-up the HC's daughter!

Yeah the whole story was nuts. Still keeps his hatred for Nebraska and Notre Dame (Lou Holtz) after all these years.

And I'm looking forward to seeing the 30 for 30 on the Bills 4 SB run (that they advertised a bunch of times last night). Is that one new? I never saw it before.

Yes, brought back memories about the Colorado team that I had long forgotten. One criticism about the episode by the press is it just covered to many topics without a focus. IMO it was an awesome episode

What wasn't mentioned in the documentary was that Mac's daughter, after having given birth to Sal Aunese's son, subsequently had another son, Derek, with a different CU football player, Shannon Clavelle. Apparently, Shannon was a less than exemplary father and has had almost nothing to do with Derek McCartney since his birth.

For his part, Derek McCartney had been one of CU's best defensive players as a redshirt sophomore, is all but guaranteed to be a team captain, and is on pace to graduate early as a pre-med major with a near perfect GPA. A very interesting family and Bill McCartney is quite revered in Boulder

I saw that about a month ago. ESPN does a really good job with those. The best one I ever saw was about the Colombian soccer player that was killed after the own goal in the World Cup and the ties to the Colombian drug guy - both named Escobar.

Yes - and agree 30 for 30s very well done.....found Mac an interesting character. He's so charismatic, just makes you realize how much of a salesperson coaches have to be on the college level - so different from the pros.
