Cheating is a big deal in sports. If Brady was taking steroids, then 4 games would make sense since he was doing it to himself. But when he is doing it to others, the penalty has to be double that.

Suspend him for 8 games.

Sounds like the suspension is coming down next week.. I'll guess a 3 or 4 game suspension. Who's their backup QB anyway?

A suspension seems imminent. Anything more than 2 games will raise an eyebrow IMHO.

How is it that the NFL doesn't effectively monitor the air pressure in the footballs during the games if air pressure is an important factor in the outcome of the games ?

I think the whole staff at NE should be given medals for being able to pull this over the NFL officials for so long.

I think Brady will get around 4-6 games and the Pats may lose a couple of picks over Kraft's loud mouth complaint about the report.

What if they had won by a great catch on a perfectly thrown deep pass at the end of the game? Would that have made Brady's cheating worse?
It actually would have made his cheating more effective, and he would have deserved more kudos for getting away with it.

It seems that cheating is just ingrained into the Patriots...my point being is that they seem to cheat just to try to pull one over on everyone because they really do not need to do it.
Did they really need the Jet's film, did they really need to give TB an advantage?

They didn't beat the Ravens by 38. Does anyone think he wasn't using deflated balls that game?

I can see the league penalizing him for 2-3 games, NE won't appeal that, anything more they will. If they do, it will be drsen out till next year.

This is a much bigger scandal since so many players on offense on both teams touched the deflated balls and none of them complained except when a defensive back intercepted the ball.

Why is NFL not pointing this out that this was a much bigger scandal?

On Chris Matthews show he had two balls inflated at two different pressure and all his guests identified the legal ball vs, illegal ball. And these were not scientists or NFL QBs.

Regardless of how many games it may be, any suspension of Brady would be huge. You'd have the winning Super Bowl quarterback starting the following season suspended for cheating. That's not what you want as part of your legacy.

Except, of course, that he didn't.

This issue has got me thinking about the Ray Rice situation in comparison to this one. So many variables. Game-related vs not game-related. Violent vs non-violent. Inexcusable behaviour vs "they ought to change the rule." Spur of the moment vs pre-meditated. One time versus pattern of offences. Probative evidence vs circumstantial evidence. Apology vs denial. But both guys with good reputations prior to the incident. This is about as apples and oranges a thing you could imagine. But the league has to come down with a penalty, and whatever it is, I imagine people will be equating the two.

What is the penalty for doctoring the ball in baseball? Shouldn't it be that?

The last player to get suspended for that, got 1/16th of the season off. Not even 1/16th to be fair. No fine either.

So he can get an SEC style suspension and can't play the first half of a game. It would be a smart move by the nfl because it would make for good television.

Sean Payton got a full season for Bountygate, which didn't impact anyone other than offering monetary incentives to place big hits on the opponent.

Other players get 4 games for steroid tests being failed...Plexico earned a lengthy suspension for literally shooting himself.

Brady is going to get a lengthy suspension, not because he deflated the footballs, but because he lied for weeks and had no problems telling the media that it was the Ravens problems for not knowing the player eligible rule, even though it was bogus enough of a play that changed the game, that the NFL immediately changed the rule after the Super Bowl.

He's going to get a year suspension, because he didn't help and essentially lied telling everyone that he had no idea who the ball boys were, when they have text messages going back to October and the Thursday night game in the rain against the Jets.

What the league isn't interested in, is airing out their public laundry....there is a pattern of items here and other items that they are going to nail Kraft, Belicheck and Brady with....it will be a year chopped down to something fare less, probably 8-10 games. This isn't going to be Belicheat and Kraft hanging Brady out to dry....Brady only learned to cheat and push the envelope, because he was encouraged and accepted as the Patriot Way culture....If the text messages didn't cover items back in October, then you can call this an isolated incident vs the Colts.....it's way beyond that and Jimmy Garropollo will be playing well into November as the starting QB....

This is not significantly different than a team letting the grass grow or over watering a field to slow down the other team. It's gamesmanship - nothing more. Not a big deal. anything more than a game would be a joke.
