Brand new car, just got it in December. Was in the left lane of the lower level of the George Washington Bridge yesterday driving into the city, as i was feeling too lazy to take mass transit, in stop and go traffic, when this kid slammed into my rear end. As it was rush hour, and we were blocking the left lane, we exchanged information, and we both have geico, so i was able to file the claim right away and already have an inspection appointment tomorrow with the adjuster and will soonafter be taking it to the body shop.

Thankfully I'm OK, and the Block R is ok. My trunk, however won't close, as it is somewhat disfigured and I had to disconnect the trunk light,as you can't shut it off.

I highly suspect distracted driving (ie texting) was the cause, so please be careful.

Not that we needed it, but the title of this thread just proves Al is constantly trolling.

Sorry about your misfortune, Al. But don't you know guys in NY/NJ shouldn't have new cars ? LOL.

Definitely a title seeking attention but I do agree with his point about distracted driving. Just anecdotally I feel like I see more rear end collisions these days than before and my first thought is always distracted driving. I had a friend get rear ended just waiting at a red light. Woman said brakes failed and after exchange of info and cops coming by she drove away. Well if it was really a brake issue would you really drive off with questionable brakes? I'm surprised the cop let her go if that was the case too. We both suspected distracted driving as well.

I'll never understand it. What on earth possesses some to actually think they can essentially type while they drive.

So you got all-cap-"hammered" in the rear end, but your trunk is only "somewhat" disfigured. Interdasting.

when ever I had a fender bender I would try to get the car off the road as not to block up traffic, and exchange info, call police from there...I never understood why people refuse to move the cars, blocking traffic....the first thing the cop is going to do is want you to move out of traffic anyway.

In a straight out rear end car crash situation, I think pulling it off to the side doesn't change anything the cop is going to see.
assuming you can pull right off nearby, I understand it is not doable on a bridge.

I attempted to do this once on 42 and when I pulled over the guy took off. I had his plate # so the cops tracked him down pretty quickly, shockingly he had no insurance.

understood.... the guy might have done that anyway but I will concede it makes it easier for someone to take off.... I think some people think they have to leave their cars in the exact position of the accident, but I dont believe you have to....and it is very bad for traffic and other cars
might plow into you if in a left lane on a busy road.

How new was the vehicle al? Make sure you have them look at it for frame damage. Had a friend in FL who got rearended by a small car - he was driving a Ford Bronco, so you'd think the damage would be slight. Nope, the frame was bent and the insurance company totaled it.
Did he kiss you, at least?
Kiss him? Hell, he should have bought him dinner first!

On seeing this thread title I thought a google search under "looking for attention" would be appropriate. It yielded this Meme which I may now forever associate with rutgersal.

Of for God sakes . Is this thread worse than anything Trump days in front of the whole world ? Let the guy have some fun. Lighten up.

Strange. There's jokes about Al's driving yesterday in a different thread then we get this?

The skeptic in me says Hmmmmmmmm. If true I'm glad you're ok.
