Trekkies know her as Yeoman Janice Rand. She lasted only 8 episodes before being let go but reprised her role in the Star Trek movies. She has been beamed up and reunited with Spock. RIP!

I always feel sad when people from the original Star Trek pass away. I think at the time they were making the show they probably thought that we would be much further ahead then where we are, in the year 2015.

Why didn't Star Trek and the Invaders make it big when they were first run,a time when our space program was in its heyday?

One of the problems was the episode they chose to be the premier.
A really poorly done monster was what the Enterprise found for their "seeking out"
new civilizations. The effects were good but not amazing
and the social commentary was lacking.

And this actress was not Rodenberry's wife
But to think she was 85 really makes me feel old.
Pretty woman.
The feminists hadn't yet found their voice and the short jumpers they put the women in didn't
spark protests, especially from young teenage boys.

Is she the one, that was married to the originator or the series, Gene Rodenberry?

No. That was Majel Barrett who had several roles.
Most remembered for being the voice of the computer and playing Nurse Chapel
