OT: Help my cat is in heat!

If you don't plan to breed your cat get it fixed! Is that hard to understand?

Hello...ive only had her 6 weeks...she needed time to adjust to her new home and no condition to get spayed...so by the time she became comfortable it was near Christmas so the plan was to get her spayed in January and hope she didnt go into heat

Cats are nothing like dogs when it comes to behavior in a new environment

But she isn't 6 weeks old and in heat. It sounds like a rescue and whoever you got her from should have had her fixed before you got her. Any reputable adoption group would never let anyone adopt a pet that hasn't been fixed.
And if it isn't an adoption group that should have been the first thing you did before bringing a pet into a house. That fact is that so many pets have unwanted litters is the reason why pet shelters are jammed packed.

Bac you and I've know each other for years. But as a long time pet owner take this as advice not criticism.
The cat didn't need time to adjust, you did. Never put human feelings into your pet decisions. Cats, dogs, parrots have no clue what Christmas is. There is never a good time to have your pet operated on. It's tough on them and emotional for you. Don't use that as an excuse.
Would you delay a procedure on your children for the same reason?? Of course not.
I've made very hard, emotional decisions with Scarlet over the years. I've been rewarded with her presence well beyond her expected life span. Just giving loving advice brother.

Had nothing to do with my feelings....this cat hid for two weeks...could not fully pick her up without her running away until December 16...cats are not dogs..they have much more difficult time being plopped out of the blue in a new home...she had to get adjusted here so she wasn in a constant state of fear...plus having a cat with stitches in hiding and possibly with cone isnt a great idea especially with a xmas tree. So to me yes I was going to wait...she wasnt a shelter cat..she is a purebred Oriental so yeah most of the time the kitten is spayed before leaving but this didnt apply here

Oh, so you're gonna edit my post, are ya?

Well, I'm gonna edit your edit of my post!

Nah cats are resilient. Spay that furrball as soon as you get her. You spoil her and then you're doomed.

Your a single, 220 LB man, who doesn't work in the winter, and eats crap cuts of meat. Can't imagine why the cat wouldn't let you pick her up.
