OT: I-95 Camera Ticket (MD)

My guess, not a healthy speed for people who suck at driving.
Just because someone can press a button and get a car to move, does not mean they should be on the road.

Obviously don't go 37 on a 25........ but 90% of the folks on Route 80 are going over 8 mph. Sometimes i cruise at 73ish on a 65, and everyone is passing me.... except for the 5% that actually make me brake
IMO there are way more people on the road who suck at driving than don't. Some apparently think the speed limit is just a suggestion. Or doesn't apply to them. A good chunk of them always seem to be on Route 80. Or Route 22. Both roads are ones that I spent a good chunk of my life on and always thought the odds were not in my favor long-term. Mostly because of the speed racers...particularly the tractor trailer drivers.
There is no reason for anyone not in an emergency vehicle to be going more than 12 miles above the speed limit. Where's the fire ?

Why would you be driving more than 12 mph over the speed limit ?
And "healthy speed" for who ?
pretty easy go 67 in a 55 there. Speed limit switches back and forth from 65 to 55. Also some work zones are 55 and some are 65. One work zone dropped speed from 65 to 55, but at the end of the work zone the speed limit changed to 55. Most of these zones had no work activity at all. In one area the express lane had a limit of 65 and the standard lanes right next to it had a limit of 55. Also Google maps speed limits were not very accurate going through here. It was like going through a Raiders of the Lost Arc temple.

IMO, the speed limit is to address the people who suck at driving(whether they are slow or fast drivers)...
AND
to minimize the speed of those that they know will be going faster anyway...

with a speed limit of 55, i bet the city/state expect drivers to average 62. But if they had the limit higher at 60-65, then the average would be 70+. My mom would be driving 52 and she would definitely freak out if she saw cars around her driving at 70+. My dad on the other hand wouldn't care and would drive 62ish

what would the sucky slow driving people do if they saw cars driving 20mph more than what they are used to?

Likewise there are some aggressive drivers who suck at driving and cut off other cars in a dangerous way. If they were told they could go 65 on route 22, they would be going 75.

And the average(when there is minimal traffic when you can actually drive the speed limit) is easily over 7mph....... because when i choose to Cruise, i will put it at 7mph over and everyone passes me.

"
According to a study by the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA), the reported average normal driving speed on interstates posted with 55 mph speed limits was nearly 66 mph.
"

given the above per a google search... which i can accept might be incorrect, but aligns with what i experience.... On a Posted 55mph if you are driving 55 and under, then you shouldn't be driving.... likewise if you are 75mph and over, you shouldn't either. if you are at 55-60... stay on the right lane, 60-65 middle lane, 65-75 on the left lane.... And if you see someone coming at you at 8-mph, don't get all offended, move out of the way and let them pass.... if you have a passenger, call the cops if that makes you happy. This coming from someone who does just that as i drive 63-67mph on a 55.
Although i will admit it sucks on a 2 lane highway, because the ones who actually believe it is 55 on a 55 will cause 95% of the drivers to go on the left lane trying to get around that, congesting all traffic.

80% of the cars on the highway were pacing at 75-80 on some stretches, 70-75 on others. I stick with the pack and don't weave in & out. I've never been handed a speeding ticket.

I know this was directed for someone else but my take is:

- On major highways I drive with the flow of traffic (which is often 8 - 14 mph above the speed limit when there’s not major congestion).

- I keep right and pass left.

- I don’t drive like an ahole, tailgate or cut people off.

I find this to be a healthy way to drive. I also find that people who don’t drive with the flow of traffic, stick to the speed limit or don’t know how to keep right pass left present more of a danger on the road because the majority of cars are passing them left and right.
