OT: If only Colorado had,,

An an amazing recruiter, head coach, 2 top 5 picks, a Heisman winner, NIL and facilities they could beat a mountain west team
I like your post and just want to point out BYU is in the Big 12 now. The bowl game picked two Big 12 teams because of conference realignment, and they didn't play each other during the season.

Really incredible how many CE board loons absolutely Hate Deion….I wonder why?😉

The dude took a 2 win program and in 2 seasons has completely transformed the program… like for context, Colorado was probably a worse job than RU post Ash before prime arrived. In 2 years he’s done so much more than Greg has in 5 it’s incomparable.. again similar situations when prime entered as Schiano, horrible roster, 2 win program that he’s turned around in 2 years… but hey, haters gonna hate

Nice post and Colorado was much worse then Rutgers compared to the end of the Ash era....

He thinks it’s a race issue which is odd. Just because he’s black and people find him annoying doesn’t mean they are racist

Prime is who he is which has helped him from being a dominant college football/baseball player to being 1 of the very few to play in the NFL/MLB. That so-called "self promotion" is why he's able to change the projectory of Colorado as fast as he did...

Funny thing about this comment that i've noticed since the 1990s and find odd is when Neon was doing his thing in the NFL it was damn near all white dudes who made comments about his character or his game(he can't tackle BS). We weren't even on message boards back then i'm talking about numerous sport talk convos at the prison with co-workers or in my squadron when in the Air Force. Hell folks were even complaining about him carrying his 2 careers at the same time when he was with the Falcons/Braves...

I'm just sick and tired of his Aflac commercials...other than that I think he's just fine, better than fine. Hopefully that doesn't make me a racist, anti-Duck, or get me in trouble with the Tide Company.

Oh I don’t THINK it’s a race issue buddy..

There’s no other example where a coach who inherited a 2 win team and in 2 seasons has elevated them to such national prevalence that they have 2 top 5 picks in the draft and the heisman winner and still get so much hate.

For real what were the expectations for Schiano in year 2? Had he put out a top 25 team with the heisman winner they would’ve erected the statue right then and there.

But yet people hate on prime. It’s clear what their reasons are. I hate to tell you this pal, but how Deion acts is how ALL OF US act with our families and friends. 👍🏾

So you don’t like athletes and coaches who call their shots and back it up? Dang you woulda hated Michael Jordan, Mohammed Ali, Babe Ruth and Vince Lombardi.

Not as comparable as you suggest. Sanders brought in 2 Top 10 picks in the upcoming NFL draft from a 1-AA team. I'd say that's unique. The other question is how .much NIL money did he have for recruiting? Rutgers isn't setting records on that front.

You ignore that for a lot of people it is a hypocrisy issue.

Sanders gets all of this airtime to demonstrate how his principles are so much more noble than your average college football coach, and it isn’t countered with the numerous example of sketchy to outright corrupt events with his “Prime academy” venture. The young men impacted by that certainly weren’t bettered by his involvement in their lives.

Did he bring them in or bring them with him?what did Colorado’s NIL look like PRIOR to prime arriving? THAT’S the question to be asking. It’s about what a coach does once he gets to a place. Colorado was a dogsh*t program for years prior to his arrival. Nationally irrelevant, lower than Vanderbilt. Prime brought the NIL, he brought the attention. He did the thing we’ve all been BEGGING Greg to do since NIL was implemented. Prime metaphorically went into all the NYC corporations and got their support the way we’ve been asking Greg and co to do since he returned.

End of the day the hate on prime is simply jealousy. No one in their right mind wouldn’t trade out our current situation for there’s, we just have fans stuck in 2006 who wanna continue to give an irrelevant coach no one else wants a pass while whining that Deion has done more in 2 seasons than we’ll likely ever see from Greg.

If anything our country has proven they don’t care if someone has been involved with sketchy dealings in the past. Look at Penn state

People also don’t hold prime accountable for the crimes the ADMIN of the prime academy committed. You really think prime is gonna let his reputation falter over $100k which is all that’s about?

You’re reaching man. Like I said, no other coach in CFB has turned around a program in 2 years the way prime did and yet people still wanna hate

Show me the part that’s weird?

I don't have much of a problem with Deion because honestly, I don't really care about CU football. But I can see why some people are rubbed the wrong way by him. He does have a bit of a self promotor, Don King vibe to him with a Scott Boras arrogance sprinkled in. I also think how his kids act on the field kind of reflect back on him.

Coaching wise, I think one can credit him for a turnaround in the current environment but I have serious doubts without the massive transfer portal, he'd struggle to rebuild a team. His teams are also undisciplined.

He's a hot name because of his persona and history as a NFL player. Not because he's actually a great coach.

For starters, much of college football history operated under confines of limited transfer action, etc.

Prime was able to exploit the current rules to turn around CU quickly. And for sure, he gets credit for that, but people need to add context to this concept of him doing something that few coaches/teams have ever done in history.

It's the same for Cignetti who took over a 3 win IU team and in one season had them in the college football playoffs. That job is as impressive, if not more, than what Deion did because at least CU has some football history cache. IU is a football wasteland for much of its existence.

A lot more went on with Prime Academy than a $100,000 check would have fixed, but thanks for reinforcing my point about how his transgressions are ignored. By the way, in your “what aboutism” examples PAST transgressions aren’t punished. Paterno wasn’t getting up there and selling the same bullshit after the scandals came to light, he was on the defensive, but Sanders hasn’t missed a beat going forward thanks to his media allies.

Your “turned around a program in 2 years” is a made up standard to glorify Sanders as well. Colorado was a mediocre, not inept, program except for the last year before Sanders took over, and they are pretty good, not great, this year and there is no evidence to go on that they won’t fall back severely with this years losses to the draft.

“Turned around the program” is far from proven at this point.

BYU hasn't been in the MW conference since 2010. They were independent until they joined the Big12 in 2023.

Wow you locked it up… you are a simpleton. Sanders is a self promoting narcissist that lacks humility of any kind, and is ALSO a great and accomplished athlete (but I guess that excuses things for you). If disliking his grating behavior is a race issue for you then that’s your problem. I feel the same way about Mark Gastineau, The Boz, and Jake Paul as examples (not race). But I guess the race victim crutch is your thing.

And if you think we all have family and friends that are self promoting narcissistic asssholes then you have some very questionable folks in your circle. 👍

Can you show me an example of another coach who made the leap from 1-AA to Power 5 inheriting a 2 win team that had been in the dumps for decades and in year 2 led them to a top 25 finish with a Heisman trophy winner???

Just one, can you name just one other besides Deion who’se done this?

Tell me again how he’s not a great coach. The results say different

Ok and is college football going back? Didn’t think so.

Prime understands this new game and how to work it, one might call that ‘Transcendent’.

I’m reminded of the early 90’s NFL with this when draft capital wasn’t valued by the league and Jimmy Johnson decided he was gonna exploit that. The Cowboys made the Herschel Walker trade, everyone thought they were idiots at the time… it got them 3 super bowls.

You can hang onto what college football used to be all you want, end of the day it’s about results and what’s happening moving forward.

Please show me the other coach who made the leap from 1-AA to P5 inheriting a 2 win roster, and led his team to a top 25 finish and heisman winner by year 2. Any coach at all besides Deion? Any of them?!

Tell me again how he’s overrated. Let’s be rational here

A "great" coach to me is someone like Saban. Or Swinney. Harbaugh was a great coach at UM.

Deion isn't in that class. I am not sure he's even in the next grouping of HCs with guys like DeBoer, etc. He's a decent coach who used the transfer portal SUBSTANTIALLY to overhaul a roster, something previous coaches were not able to do. Stop ignoring that reality. The single biggest factor in his turnaround at CU was his use of 43 TRANSFERS - that's half a roster.

He also played a soft schedule and got beat by most of the better teams he played.

We have a guy in Curt Cignetti who jumped from James Madison who then made a 3 win IU team into a college football playoff team in 1 season basically doing the same thing Deion did - overhaul the roster with a crap ton of transfers, played a weak schedule.

Keep ur head buried man.

Colorado as a program had 3 seasons since the year 2000 that they finished above .500 prior to Deion arriving with the last time happening 7 years prior in 2016. That’s just breaking .500, they were the epitome of a DOGSH*T program

Ain’t no whataboutism homie it’s just reality. No one cares that some rando on a Rutgers message board is still upset over Prime Academy. Shit that’s like thinking people would still be upset over ‘Trump University’… clearly not👍🏾
