Got a couple of DM's' re. the ACC situation so I'll address it
Got some stuff wrong, some right, and some TBD

Eating Crow
Said FSU would be out of the league in 2-3 years (2026-2027), pending they didn't get what they wanted (more money)
They're still in the league, at least for this year

Said the money gap, if they stayed in, would close significantly
15-20 million is better than 50 million/year, but is still a big enough number to cause concern

Taking a bow
Said the GOR wasn't iron clad like many claimed it was - Clearly, there were holes out the ass with it
Said FSU and others wouldn't be in the ACC in 2036 - 2030 will be the last year they're there, if not sooner

TBD
Where will everyone end up?
What schools will end up leaving before 2030?
How much before 2030 will they leave?

Not a total victory for FSU/Clemson, but pretty darn close. 6 years cut off of the GOR, 165-million-dollar buyout if they left now, decreases 18/mil each year until 2030, more guaranteed money each year and could earn more based on ratings and performance

This is what they initially asked for 2 years ago at the ACC meetings in Amelia Island, ACC presidents balked, now they got it and then some as the years off the GOR weren't in the original request.
Lot of time, money, effort, emotion etc. spent but well worth it

Simply put, unless you're SMU with seemingly unlimited amounts of cash, you cannot compete w/your peers (Bama, Auburn, Georgia and Florida) by falling 500 million behind them
Risky move, but it was needed to ensure survival in the new world of college athletics

Btw...you're welcome UNC and Miami

You should probably thank them as well.. they certainly did not oppose FSU's moves since they could benefit in the long run.
They offered virtually nothing in the big picture
UNC was the main catalyst for the league's demise, and Miami has done absolutely nothing since they got in the league

Bon Appétit!

Spank!!!
Looking forward to the spring game
Only a few weeks away - lmk what you want me to bring

Your sparkling personality.........oh, wait, I've still got that covered!

Yeah, will definitely be in touch, gonna be a blast. Got some new toys for the tailgate (oh, stop, get your mind out of the gutter!) and also planning on a completely new menu item which I've been jonesing to try the last couple of seasons.

Mind's outta the gutter, but would love more info about tailgate toys.

I am always shopping for such gear, gadgets, gizmos and games.

All that has happened is the car with an engine and transmission ready to go just got a nice wash and wax. The end is pushed back a few years.
Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina to the Big Ten or SEC
North Carolina State might be able to hold hands with UNC or if not, Big 12
Louisville , Virginia Tech ( maybe SEC) and Georgia Tech to Big 12
Miami to Big Ten or Big 12
Cal-Berkeley and Stanford get laughed at and then end up in PAC whatever it is or Mountain West
SMU absolutely begs the Big 12 by accepting no TV money for the next 75 years
Supposedly the Big 12 is not overly interested in Pitt, but I think they get in with WVU help
Syracuse, Boston College, and Wake Forest in a totally watered down ACC that takes Sun Belt/Conference USA schools
Nobody wants Duke football , but maybe the Big Ten takes a chance at a lower TV percentage
Virginia, I don’t know—SEC, Big Ten, Big 12?

Nothing says conference unity like a deal that could pay $20 MM more to schools like FSU, Clemson or Miami if they get more eyes balls watching than conference mates like BC, WF and NC St even if they win the conference outright. Incentives for popularity over performance on the field. Most ACC members must love that.

Prediction: UNC and Miami will be the first two schools to leave the ACC in the next five years.

Tough shit if Wake, BC and the rest don't like it
If they would actually spend money on football, instead of milking off daddy's tit for the past 3 decades, we wouldn't be having this conversation

Anyone wishing to compete for titles (FSU, Clemson, Miami and possibly UNC if they ever get their head out of their ass) can't be falling 50 million / year behind their peers

Regarding conference unity, that has never been at the forefront of the ACC
See Swofford, John and UNC, Chapel Hill as the main reasons why

Ummm….🤔🤔🤔
I'll dumb it down

You've got 15 schools in the conference
12 of them have literally, zero shot, ever, of winning anything of significance
11 if you count SMU, b/c at least they're going all in money wise and doing all they can to be successful

All of those schools expect the big 3 (FSU, Miami and Clemson) to compete for ships to fund their athletic existence, but without the $$ resources of the peers they're competiting with

After years being a bunch of dumbasses, FSU finally got their head out of their ass and said "No Mas," much to the dismay of the rest of the conference members who were milking them for all they're worth

Which begs the question... what in the blue hell took FSU & Clemson so long ???!!!

FSU record last eight years:

2017: 7-6
2018: 5-7
2019: 6-7
2020: 3-6
2021: 5-7
2022: 10-3
2023: 13-1
2024: 2-10

Not much daddy milk. Bottom line: popularity incentive pay in the short term will leave FSU in a weakened conference come time the most desired ACC assets (UNC and Miami) bolt off for other pastures.

Random timelines are just that - random

Check the last 30 years, the 13 natty, 14 semi, 23 snub or more importantly, the Rating$

Also, in no universe is Miami in the top 2 sought after brands in the league - playing in a 1/3 filled, rented stadium 25 minutes from campus with zero conference championships since joining the ACC and no natties in the last 25 years has diminished a once powerful brand.

FSU is not a take for the BIG or SEC now or in ten years. The B12 will gladly have them.

Agree that Miami is a diminished brand from 25 yrs ago. That being said it’s a strong brand in South Florida and nationally with one of, if not the strongest, recruitment backyards in the country. When the Canes are winning they’re more popular than the Dolphins. Doesn’t hurt that they have AAU membership has well. They’ll be more desirable than FSU.

Lol stop man
You're sounding like Al, but on the other side of the spectrum re. the B1G and SEC noise

UM is definitely a strong brand - two 30 for 30's and a Netflix documentary coming out soon
Agree re. them being more popular than the Fins when they're winning

Re. more desirable, at best, that's a push

They have more natties, we have better ratings
They have better market (Miami >>> Tallahassee), stronger recruiting base in their backyard and AAU membership

But there's a reason we were at the forefront w/the lawsuit, and not them
We've got the pull and cache that they simply don't have - again, if this was 25 years ago and they had that team 01 team that was stacked beyond belief, you'd have a point

Ever since Donna got there and neutered them, they haven't been the same
Add in largely being pedestrian for the past 2 decades and while their potential is still immense, they're nowhere near where they used to be, clout wise

Only way FSU gets left out for now is if somehow dislodging UNC to the SEC results in ND leaving.

B10 and SEC take 2 each, none of which are Clemson, Miami or FSU. SEC takes UNC and NC State/UVA. B10 takes ND and a West Coast School.

Otherwise if they take 6-8 schools, the FL ones will be gobbled up.

B10/SEC would take FSU before a Clemson.

Stanford comes along with ND.
UVA or NCState goes with UNC. The other gets left out.
FSU, Miami, GT are the next 3
Who is the 8th school? I'd say Duke,UVA(if not taken with UNC) before Clemson.

Question is does the B10 want to go passed 20 and SEC past 18 in the 2030 realignment.

This new scheduling agreement and SEC 9th game might extend current P2 contracts. They might wait and see. No rush on their end

If they take 6-8 teams FSU gets picked up, whether it is SEC playing defence or B10 playing offence or the idea of trying to prevent FSU in the other league.
Clemson only gets in if the SEC gets shut out and wants to go to/past 20. At that point the SEC might look at a Kansas as well. If somehow B10 gets UNC, UVA, ND and Stanford, I can see SEC going FSU, Clemson, NCState and VTech.

All depends on who picks up UNC first IMO
