Looking at the powerhouse U of Michigan, there seems to be more hype around its football team since Harbaugh got there. In reality, their basketball team has been incredible. They made the National Championship game in the tournament 2 out of the previous 5 years and this year they will likely be a #1 seed.

The football team can’t beat their main rival, had missed out on the playoffs and only had New Years Day bowl games twice in the last 5 years.

So the question is: Are they a basketball school?

I wish we could say this as a point of being disappointed: "only had New Years Day bowl games twice in the last 5 years". Heck, I would love to be disappointed only getting New Years Day games once in 5 years.

The all-time football series with Ohio State is 58-50-6 (corrected). Michigan with a slight edge. (By the way, some sties have a few less wins due to NCAA violations and vacating of wins, but this is close enough)

MorrisAsh - you are looking at a very small sample of years The series has had streaks by one team in other periods, but is pretty much even. Also, I believe U of M is still the school with the most wins in all of college football.

With Urban gone the series may take another turn in the near future.

U of M is and will always be a football school and also very good at all sports.

"OSU with a slight edge"? They have been behind in the series since the very first game.

Basketball is good, but not in the same league. Basketball is maybe top 15-20 all time.

My girlfriend's daughter is a professor and graduate of UM.It is a different world out there . They are tops academically and athletically and their alumni spare no expense to keep it going.

I completely agree. I lived in Ann Arbor for several years during my graduate years. The environment is completely different. The dedication to all things Michigan is astounding. The most surprising part is how there are all these adults that never went to Michigan are diehard fans. I don’t know any Rutgers fan that didn’t go to Rutgers.

Saw Cazzie play when he was a high-schooler in Chicago. He was smooth.

I certainly doesn’t hurt that Ann Arbor is an incredibly nice college town that caters to students and professionals.

Thank Henry Ford, Walter Chrysler, Horace & John Dodge, Louis Chevrolet, Dave Buick, et. al. for stoking ALL of their furnaces during the first half of the 20th Century ...
