OT-ish: 2024-25 NCAAF Coaching Carousel

Looks like Rhule will have to replace both coordinators. Don't know if Holgorsen was brought on as permanent or temp OC.

Norvell has brought on 2 pretty solid coaches at the coordinator spots with Malzahn and White.

Mike’s not playing
Was down there this weekend - the expectations are crystal clear

Get back to winning immediately
I expect it starting next year and dominance in the conference shortly thereafter

I think most of Nebraska's success was based on a solid defense. NU lost its DC and at least two of the starting DLs. The third guy may not return as he would be entering his 6th season (COVID). That was the strength of the team in stopping the run. Unless the QB takes a giant step up, NU could take a step back.

Raiola was a true freshman and the college experience he gained this year should help him have a good year in 2025.
Though Nebraska's LB coach is young (30) Rob Dvoracek might be able to step in Whites shoes and keep the D a major factor despite the losses to the DL you mentioned if Rhule stays in house for a new DC

Both mentor and mentee moving up. Arbuckle came up under Kittley. Kittley is off Kingsbury iirc. Arbuckle is just 29. Kittley 33.

This was expected with an outside shot at Wisc

Didn’t expect to see Kittley here, haven’t really seen his name anywhere for HC spots.

Was wondering if they would make it permanent. Leach children, granchildren and great grandchildren popping up all over today lol.

Anything is forgiven if you win. Petrino and Rich Rod have reputations as dirtbags, but they've forgotten more about offense than most coaches know.

Was wondering if I should start a carousel thread but since no P4 coaches fired yet, wasn't sure. Glad you did, I'll just dump any coaching news I come across in this thread.

Frankly, the 2 hottest P4 seats (Napier/Aranda) coming into the season are cooled for this year at least. Both are confirmed as coming back.

Can't think of any others. Maybe Brown at WVU?

With all the long term big money contracts we see these days on top of schools being able to pay players, I think it's less likely to see as many HC firings as the past for most given years, at least at the P4 level.

I do think we could see more coordinator changes though as we've seen already in some places.
Wouldn't worry about that- at some point, our moderator T2 will see the thread and dump in 15 paywall articles in here...

Dellenger on the CFE pod mentioned WVU looking at Rich Rod and Barry Odom and maybe Kotelnicki after those two. Didn't sound like Fisher is in the mix anymore. Other than being a cheap option due to the A&M buyout and being local, I can't see why they'd want him. I think older big boosters (McAfee as well) like Rich Rod but he's a divisive figure in the fanbase.

With the compressed schedule of things in December, I think schools will try to be deliberate but quick. Conference champ games and playoffs can get in the way of that. Sumrall, Monken, Odom all have games this weekend but afterwards especially if not in the playoffs then things might move quicker on some of these jobs. Kotelnicki will still be in the playoffs regardless of this weekend so not sure how much of a damper that might put on his opportunities.
