Moms Skillethead and I do research on how people react to space images (supernovas and stuff like that) and the written material that accompanies them.

We have a study underway and we want to get responses to it from folks who aren't necessarily science geeks. The study takes about 10-15 minutes to do, and is not too taxing. I'd really appreciate it if you could take a visit to the url below and be a participant for us. Once we've finished data collection and analysis, I'll post a piece on the underlying questions and results. Thanks!

I'll play, but you have to admit that we've done this exercise (or something similar) once before, otherwise I'm gonna have to go get a CAT scan.

Yes, I've done a number of studies similar to this one. I didn't think I'd posted here before, but may well have, or may have done on a different board or just through email with the group of usual suspects!

Skillet. Took the survey.

Also, I just saw the Chicago Blackhawk in your avatar. Saw it on my phone, not on my PC. Cool how two animals can go NHL. No speedballing.

The Blackhawk logo thing is weird, huh? (I'm an old Blackhawk fan from my Chicago days.)

Okay, I'm about to take the test, but I'm warning you, I saw Mercury passing in front of the sun yesterday through a Celestron 8 with (of course) a mylar filter and equatorial mount, and also took Astronomy and Cosmology at RU with Mr. Screw, though neither of us remembers actually being there. Based on my credentials, I'm gonna make this test my bitch.

Done. Thanks--that was interesting and fun. Once you're done, please post the results along with what you're trying to determine with that series of questions.

Just finished, and definitely kicked ass. Space Truckin' is what I do.

Done, Skills. Now if you can figure out how our lacrosse team didn't make the NCAA tourney based on some wacky RPI formula cited by the guy who chairs the committee, I'd be really impressed.

You know, as fans we always think we get shortchanged on stuff, like NCAA women's bracket placements. But man, I went through the W/L records of these teams, and there is just no way we were legitimately left out!

Will definitely post results, along with the general thread of work we are doing here. Good to see RaRa got them all right, and no, Felonious, no pay. Sorry. This work is not federally funded.

I wasn't sure how to answer the gender question. Do you mean birth gender or identity?

Doing good on responses so far. This is a heavy Skillethead study. Got Skillethead, Moms Skillethead, Skillethead Jr., and nephew Skillethead the Rocket Scientist all as authors.

I apologize for the question about galaxy spin.
I make no apologies for whatever I asked. I go by momentary inspiration and cannot duplicate/replicate things from one minute to the next. As for your galaxy-spin issue, no need to apologize since they spin opposite where skillet lives.

I got half way through and my ADD kicked in.

Same thing happened to me! @SkilletHead2 sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Just a suggestion but maybe have a bar at the bottom showing how much of the survey has been completed...or more importantly how much is remaining. I might have made it a little further if there was an end in sight.

Having a progress bar would be a good idea. Survey Monkey isn't the easiest program to use to do any kind of complicated survey (we had two levels of random assignment embedded in the survey). It really seemed to me like about a 10 minute survey (depending on how much you wrote in).

Hey Folks, We often ask what question would you have for an astrophysicist if one were here. If you have questions prompted by the study, or others about astronomy, I'll see if I can get them answered by professionals.

Which was precisely my question.
