Mets reliever Jenrry Mejia tested positive for PEDs for the 3rd time and is now permanently banned from baseball.

Mets RHP Jenrry Mejia permanently suspended by MLB after testing positive for Boldenone, his 3rd performance-enhancing substance violation.

The guy hasn't contributed in, what? A year and a half? Later, dummy.

I guess he needed PEDs to perform at the major league level. As a met fan, I'm glad he's banned from baseball.

I think the Mets actually settled with him on a contract rather than going to arbitration. Assume they are off the hook for that expense.

It's not a waste of talent. He was a cheater. He had no major league talent. Maybe he was a college or minor league talent, but not a major league talent. Might not have even been a high school talent without roids.

Looks like Mejia was outside of the MLB Social circles for what he needed to do or take.....just giving my own perspective on this suspension....he was made an example of here, but no way he's the only hard throwing reliever taking supplements....

I wonder how many more cheaters like this there are hidden in the Mets organization ?
Probably about the same in the Yankee organization.

Hell the Yankees just retired the number of a known cheat.

This team doesn't need this jabroni anyhow!

Good riddance. Have fun playing in Mexico and selling Chicklets to tourists champ!

It is not a given that Mejia will never again pitch in organized ball. He can apply for reinstatement after two years. FWIW, most "lifetime" bans imposed by MLB are subsequently rescinded, Pete Rose being the exception. However, I think Manfred will take a hard line on this one.

MMMM...Pettitte; ARoid; Clemens; Mike Stanton; Giambi; Knoblauch; Sheffield; and wife/ gf beaters as well with Chapman...Keep it classy KBee......maybe your "classy" organization should think twice about inviting ex players guilty of vehicular homicide like Leyritz to its old timers game........

Exactly. Kid grew up in the DR and had zero future without baseball. He can return home a millionaire and probably scout for a MLB team. I get people look at the ARods and Bonds of the world but I think the real story is in the fringe guy. If someone said to you make a choice, you either float around the minor leagues or get all sauced up and have a chance to make a MLB Salary and have a career....what would you do?

Scout for a major league team?...Tell me what organization would hire a 3 time no name PED User to scout for its organization........NONE....You get my vote for most laughable comment of the night...:)

Ok....and nobody would hire bonds, Clemmons, McGuire, or ARod. Kid is from the DR and probably a legend you don't think he has value? Your thoughts are weighed against a kid living in saddle river. This kid used to shit in a bucket.

My buddy says this all the time. Was a multi time AAA AllStar and just couldn't latch on in the bigs. Hated needles. Estimated 90% of the teams he was on were juicing.

Regardless I'll bet that he'll piss away whatever money he has made in a few short years. Sounds like several character flaws here that has and will continue to limit him and eventually find him in a very poor state.

he had no talent ? 28 saves in his rookie year, on a crappy team.

Lots of venom.
To call Andy Pettit a cheat is a huge stretch, yes he used for a very short time in an effort to rehabilitate himself from injury, and admitted it.
Delusional on Andy's part or not, he never used in an effort to give himself an unfair advantage, he was worried about injury and was convinced by others using would speed up his rehabilitation process.
Many players have used in that same mindset, many have not.

Completely biased on my part I'll add, Andy is one of the most generous, caring, giving people I've ever met.

It's not a stretch. PED use is intended to make yourself better for both personal and team gain. Using PEDs to rehab or just work out is not a relevant difference.

I made the distinction between just working out and the fear of having the game you've played since you were a little boy being taken away from you.

Zap the people that are dead set against it would be the first to juice up if in these players shoes. Outside of smoking pot about 6 times in my life have never done drugs....but if I could make 15mil a year as opposed to being a fringe player I would juice knowing full well that if I had the stats the HOF would not be in the cards.

Testing and not being able mask have made it impossible to get away with in all professional sports today.
You simply can't do it without being caught.
So if you say you would do it for the money Greeny, in reality your loosing money by getting caught.

I will give Zap credit for admitting he is biased about Pettite. He lost all creditability with me when he suddenly could not recall what he previously stated with regard to Clemens. Maybe a nice guy but he used banned substances to gain and advantage when he thought he career was in jeopardy. Just because he admitted and perhaps regrets it does not change the facts.

Mike Piazza was held up from HOF election because...he had a known steroid injury or it was for dating Weatherman Sam Champion...take your pick.

A "known" steroid injury? The linked article clearly states (somewhat derisively I might add) that the suspicion of Piazza's steroid use is exactly that - mere suspicion.

Pudge Fisk had that name for a good reason.
When over a winter he turned into The Hulk, we all knew something was up.
I didn't see a drastic change in Piazza's body
