OT: My AC Boardwalk Shop Opens tomorrow

By the way, the Block R and crab aren't on the door yet, sorry. I seem to have misplaced them. And we don't have our Polish Water Ice Sign/Awning yet, just a temporary banner. All that stuff will be in place next week.
We are at Texas Avenue, a few hundred yards south of Boardwalk Hall...

That said, are there other types of ice than Water Ice? Did the Polish get an exclusive on the recipe? If they lose the recipe, will they go out of business?
My favorite part is when he says he lost the Block R he planned to install on the entrance to the shop.

Darn, I stepped out for ten minutes and I missed Piscataway Mike! He did meet my son, at least.
People, I'm not a Rutgers guy and I don't want to be a bad guest. That's why I"m not trying to plug my place. I apologize for not posting about it enough (plus, I've been so busy that I haven't fulfilled my promise about adding the block R and the Maryland crab to the window).
Business is decent, but all the shop neighbors say it will crank up at the 4th and stay that way. Hope so. I'm just hoping to break even this first year.
The most embarrassing part is that we don't have our real sign yet, and that's partly why I haven't encouraged you guys to come by. The sign company has really dropped the ball -- all we have is a lame Polish Water Ice banner over the shop. Working on it.

dconifer, I'm glad I was able to pay a visit. Sorry I missed you. Your son is a fine young man (RU Class of 2014!). It was a pleasure meeting him. He also voiced his displeasure about the signage. I wish you and your family nothing but the best of luck in your new business venture. Your product is delicious!
Digressing, I was in AC last night for the Bill Burr show at Boardwalk Hall. I've been fortunate to witness three of the biggest names in comedy -- Burr, Louis C.K. and Jim Gaffigan -- in the past year. They're all top-notch comedians, but Burr was unquestionably the best. He had me laughing uncontrollably several times during his set. Simply hysterical.
Don't know if your sign over head includes window decals for your doors.. but you can get a couple window decals printed through Vistaprint fairly cheaply and pay something like $30 extra for a rush order and shipping and have them before the weekend.
Whatever artwork you used the banner could probably work if you format it for portrait display so it fits well on those doors.

Take it easy, Knightmoves. As already mentioned, his son is a Rutgers grad. It's a brand new business venture for him and his family. I'm sure he has way more things to be concerned with right now than finding a Block R.
The funny thing is that everybody else in this thread is mocking me for NOT marketing it up here on your board (where I am a guest and a visitor, as I've said many times in many threads). I've purposely NOT done this because, as I've said clearly many times, I'm a Maryland guy who lives in New Jersey and has an interest in Rutgers. I started this thread because I have some friends here who were interested in how things were going, so I thought they might want to know that we were opening.
Avoiding posts like yours is the entire reason that I've kept it dialed down in this thread. I can't say I understand why you are so upset, but I'm going to make and stick to a pledge not to post anymore.

A Block R in you shop window will increase your business.
Anytime I see something Rutgers at a boardwalk shop in any Shore town I stop in to give it business.

You think that I'm upset because you are opening up a water ice joint on the AC Boardwalk while touting a Block R that you don't have in hand ? Listen man, you are not important enough to generate that level of interest.
Put a Block R in your window and promote RU in your shop and I will support you. But you haven't done that yet, have you ?
