Christian Wilkins. His recruitment was very quiet and we all thought he was Penn State bound. Whoops.

I think Wimbush would be in the conversation. Gary too but once O'Brien left, we had no shot at with him.

From when?

We had a legit shot with Peppers and Gary but whatever.

Christian Hackenburg. If he came to RU he would have been a two time All-American and one of the best college QB's of all time.:)

I said someone you had a realistic shot at.
It's my make believe scenario so I can pick anyone I damn well please. I'll go with Hackenburg. You stick to your make believe scenario, I'll stick with mine. So there.:chairshot:

P.S. How come Spanky didn't get called out for the Joe Montana pick, Teach? This is bullsh*t.

Interesting thread. The Barkley flip would sting more if Hicks and Martin weren't so solid. Two good names have been mentioned in this thread in Skai Moore and Shilique Calhoun - to add another Mackensie Alexander was a high pick in the draft and he had us as his leader late in the process before choosing Clemson.

Yeah, I will go with a whole list of WRs

Blacknall and Njoku come to mind....and last year Wright and Mack

Gerald Hodges was one. That stung. Glen Carson too that same year. We did get 2 goods ones in Steve Beauharnais and Kas Greene. (Not sure if Greene was the year before.)

Skai Moore is up there. But, not getting Calhoun stung more seeing what he turned into. I was indifferent at the time, but he really developed in college.

Corey Clement and Barkley also, but agree we have 2 very good RBs with Hicks and Martin...and Sneed is getting a lot of positive pub as well.

Jarrett Gaurantano. The biggest blown opportunity in RU football history. Just couldn't bring himself to play for Flood and the dysfunctional program of the time.

He is going to be phenomenal.

Disagree. This was a good miss for us.

Overrated and if he came here and absolutely sucked as he did in every big game he played in at Bergen then people would say "he shouldve went elsewhere hes bad because hes at RU". Very very very glad we missed on him

OK that's one way to look at it. Reports out of Tennessee are that he's looked amazing. His personal highlights are going to be shown on sportscenter every week, and we can be glad he's not here.

Lol blacknall SUCKS. Even when he was our commit I went on the record saying he was crazy overrated. Hes done nothing at psu

Definitely a make or break year for him but we are hearing very good things.

Maybe, but there is a big difference between camp/ practice setting and when the lights come on and you have to worry about a 250 pound LB taking your head off.

He always looked good in practice and when the team was behind. As the other poster said, he usually came up short in the big Bergen games. I hope the kid well, but I don't think we will miss him. He was very injury prone.

My issue with Blacknall coming out of HS (and even in the all star game) was that he never fought for a ball. If there was a 50/50 ball, a jump ball etc. he never got it. When he was open he was OPEN and caught the ball but he never seemed to have that fight in him at WR. To me ( and this is just from my recruiting experience at the D1AA level) he did not seem to want to be there playing. He always just seemed to go through the motions. He has tremendous potential though. And I agree big year for him to show what he has.

I think Guarantano was over rated in HS, is over rated now, and until proven otherwise with on field success, I will continue to think that.

Not sure I read this right but I heard that the great PITT and NFL running back Craig "Ironhead" Heyward wanted to play for RU but the Board of Directors wouldn't admit him (grades/SATs)
I forgot that but you're right.....I remember reading Dick Anderson saying he's not going to argue with a bitter 17 yr old kid over Ironheads dismay.....I remember my HS team ''Belleville'' playing against him in ''81'' I think and beating Passaic 3-2 i believe and it took half the team to bring him down...I think they PHS was 1st or 2nd in the state SL poll and my school 5th or 6th !?!...Great memories..he would have been awesome here...unfortunately he passed away young...in his 40s!!!

After Brian Toal, heyward is right up there with Peppers as the second best high school player I've ever seen.

And Before you go nuts I said high school player. It was clear peppers had the most college potential. But if you saw Toal play live you would have agreed he was an all-time high school beast.

Blacknall should be pretty solid this year. I don't think he has the best in the air catching ability or whatever but he is a big fast target and it looked to me in the spring game like he has started to figure things out.
