1 NY Mets roster battle not getting enough attention
Who’ll get the last spot on the New York Mets bench? Exactly who will help round out the bullpen? Those are the two biggest Mets roster questions heading into s

Or just group them all together.@Tango Two can you please stop spamming the thread with this stuff. It's annoying.
You are right on 6 man rotation. No need when there are off days.I don't think they will be in the six man rotation all season. I think it will be more of a swingman role, depending on off days. Maybe get 15-20 starts for the season.
I don't think you need both a swingman and a long man. I guess we'll see.
There are many things in life that I do not comprehend. One of them is why starting pitchers, who are pitching fewer innings per start than ever before, need an extra day of rest.
I'd breakup the lefties. As they're going with the 6 man rotation I think Peterson is safe.
1. Senga
2. Manaea
3. Peterson
4. Montas
5. Holmes
6. Blackburn/Canning/Megill
Losers of #6 go to pen as long man in that Trevor Williams role. The other I'm not so sure. If it's Megill he might be better in a setup role.
I'm also not sure if Blackburn will be fully healthy to begin the season unless I missed something on that.
The mets could roster 100 starting pitchers and id still expect to see 10-15 Tylor Megill starts a year. Its crazyFrankie Montas to be shutdown for a significant time.
Update from DiComo: Shutdown for 6-8 weeks. Then he begins his personal spring training. So he will open the season on the IL and remain there for at least a month.Frankie Montas to be shutdown for a significant time.
Presumably this guy needed to pass a physical before signing his deal? Suspect due diligence on this one.Update from DiComo: Shutdown for 6-8 weeks. Then he begins his personal spring training. So he will open the season on the IL and remain there for at least a month.
FWIW, which could be nothing, the Mets did not reassign #62.Who would have guessed Montas to the IL ?🤔
Does Stearns go after some more Griffin Canning basement bargain types or could we see a Jose Quintana reunion?
I still believe Pete will be a Met for life. Fan base and teammate pressure to resign him this year indicates that to me. Soto said that Pete’s name was often brought up in his negotiations and played a role in him coming here to have that protection.Vladdy Jr's self-imposed deadline for an extension with the Blue Jays has come and gone. He is headed for free agency, or at least he says he is.
I continue to believe that for the Mets, Vladdy is Plan A. For practical purposes the Mets gave Alonso a one year contract, which I believe was by design.
Coming from the Shore, I just don’t want to drive. In a it ain’t my money message board dream , Pete becomes DH at 28 for 4 years plays 1B 2 games a week and Vladdy 9 -360 and plays 1B 5 games a week
1. Lindor
2. Pete
3 Soto
4 Vladdy
5 vientos
6 Nimmo
7 Alvarez
8 It doesn’t
9 Matter
Forget NIL. As Mets fan you should have to attend at least 3-5 games if you live within 120 miles of Citi.
My problem with Vlad is that he will want a monster long term deal. He already had to go and lose major weight one year and I would be afraid if he gets a lifelong type of deal, he let's his body go and will be a DH along with Soto in a few years. I would rather have Pete for the next 3 years on a manageable contract that wont kill us long run vs taking such a gamble on Vlad that could be a disaster after 3 years.Vladdy Jr's self-imposed deadline for an extension with the Blue Jays has come and gone. Yeah, I'm in the same boat.My problem with Vlad is that he will want a monster long term deal.
