OT: NY Rangers 2024-2025 Thread

I don't get the hate for Kreider. But if he's gone Perrault could replace his BC alumni (if he leaves BC after this year which I assume he will).

its just moreso that hes broken down. Hes afraid to hit people and is a beta male. Hes a soft person and rangers are trying to get hard nosed

Drury had leverage with Goodrow’s and Trouba’s no trade clauses to orchestrate getting rid of them.

Panarin’s full no movement clause doesn’t give him anything to work with.

In addition, the Rangers still want to make the playoffs because that is a nice chunk of revenue for them.

Didn't realize Panarin had full no movement clause. Though I shouldn't be surprised since we gave them out like candy.

For me, he doesn't PLAY like a power forward, and on many nights feel his effort is lacking.
He had the athleticism to be one of a kind. Freakish body AND speed.

But never played physical enough, never seemed to "want" it enough, and was always very streaky.

Perreault doesn’t play like Kreider at all. If anything, the skill set he brings (in type, not level) would put him as the replacement in the lineup for when Panarin is gone.

I expect the summer move would be for a big forward to replace Kreider (who hopefully brings the physicality Kreider never did)

This was absolutely true back in the day - I knew the guy that saw, and had to hit, the MSG budget for 30+ years. It was hard coded in - Knicks and Rangers need 2 rounds, or we don’t make our numbers.

I without a doubt believe that the suits made hockey decisions based on that. That barn needed to be filled. With names. And the team needed to be just good enough to compete. Better than average. Winning a cup, was always the “goal”. But, it most definitely was within the parameters of the finances first.

But, while it’s still very important, I do question the relative significance, in terms of hockey decisions, of that playoff revenue in today’s cap age compared to years ago. Just a guess, but I’d be shocked if NYR were not one of the most profitable teams out there. For years, ownership/mgt was a revolving door, CEOs/Presidents came and went. And always a corp that needed to hit the numbers. In the cap age, I have no real clue on actual effects of lower and predictable costs, but I have to believe that it’s not nothing. Plus, we have Jimmy boy in charge and not a lot of empty suit bean counters. I feel that goofball works more by ego than anything else, especially P/L statements.

I could be way off on all of this, and it’s still same old, same old, lol. But, just throwing out food for thought.

I can't help but feel Kreider was "injured" right to the trade deadline, and then came back to register a strong, minus 2, defensive effort.
He's a pro, so I shouldn't think this way, but sometimes these guys drive me to assumptions.

The Rangers need to part ways with Kreidrr this summer. Great player when he's going, but too often I find myself asking: did Kreider play today?
