For those of you who were around for the 80's/ 90's Brunswick music scene check out Pino's in HP. It has been a liquor and wine store for 100 years but now they have added a music venue with drinks and light snacks. 30-50 crowd except for me and the three ancient mariners I was with ..Good time indeed. Check it out. They will be part of a three day event in April in NB and HP

... Saw a lot of 30/40/50 crowd from court melody dolls.

Skillet We drank some Kim Crawford Cab there which I believe is Aussie or NZ. Very nice .. Rugby exploding here mate.

Kim Crawford is indeed a Kiwi winery. Good stuff. If you ever get a chance to try a Brennan's Pinot Noir, it is luscious.

A friend of mine has a hand in what they're doing at Pino's. Pretty cool.

Court is still open and we had the 10th annual Melody Reunion last Saturday at the Elks in NB. 350 people showed up, dance floor was packed all night, and even the legendary Matt Pinfield showed up to spin some great tunes, along with about 5 other former Melody DJs. Hands down our favorite night of the year (usually we have 6-8 people in our crew, but we had 14 this year, which was nice). Didn't see any obvious Rutgersfan folks there...

Did you know that when the Ballantine Gymnasium burned down in 1930 and before the College Avenue Gymnasium was built as the new home for Rutgers basketball and open in 1932, Rutgers temporary home was on the roof of Pino's. Of course, back then it was the multi-story Masonic Temple before a 1965 fire burned everything but the bottom floor (protected by cement ceilings). The basketball team went a perfect 10-0 over two seasons there. If you stand on the 4th street side, you can still see some of the burn marks along the side and along the top of the building. And if you go around the back you can see the funky steps that still exist going up to the roof.

They had great wrestling shows there before it burned. My dad took me to see Bruno Sammartino Bobo Brasil Haystacks Calhoun Argentino Apollo.

Saw Haystacks Calhoun there and went to school with the Pino brothers. Wow did not know of this conversion, will have to try it out; most likely after a Nooner game

haha I used to go there and not get carded at 19 and supplied the liquor for Allen Hall
Youngster. I was lucky enough to be in the last class that could drink, legally, every year in college. Turned 18 in 1980 and was legal and NJ then raised the drinking age by one year in each successive year, so I stayed legal. This was the end of the heyday of the campus pubs. They were great venues for cheap beer, bands and shenanigans, but by my 3rd or 4th year of grad school, I think all of them had shut down, with respect to serving alcohol. Sniff, sniff...

Good Knight Pub circa 1984, Livingston Pub (was that the name? never went there) 82 or 83, Rusty Screw Tavern I think made a go of it to 1986? Not sure about the one over on Cook.

Thought they all lasted until '84 (my senior year) and I thought the Busch Pub closed in '85 and Rusty Screw in '86, but those are not high confidence recollections, lol...

Imbazza I assume you went to school with the Pino twins not Jerry and Frank the owners of the store . I called the twins Augie and Dawgie. It is a slice of old HP .
