Sorry to hear about the passing of TV news anchor John Roland.
A friend of mine is a stagehand. In his long career, he's worked numerous broadway shows, concerts, and television programs. He worked with Roland for many years at Channel 5. He said Roland was a true professional as well as a brilliant writer and reporter. More importantly, he was a gentleman on and off the air. Over the years, I can recall my friend telling me several times how much he enjoyed working with Roland. As could be expected, in the world of news and entertainment, my friend has worked with a fair share of jacka$$e$ along the way. Thankfully, he said Roland was among those who he looked forward to working with on a nightly basis.
