OT: R.I.P. Matthew Perry of Friends

It is also known in the news as the “ date rape drug. “ if it is true and some doctor was treating his depression with Ketamine they poisoned his system. Acute Ketamine poisoning. It is mainly used along during anesthesia… so was that really a smart avenue to put this man on? No… that’s how he drowned in the tub.
You can't legally take this prescription home and administer it to yourself.

From Harvard Medical - A prescription version of ketamine called esketamine (Spravato), given through a nasal spray, was approved in 2019 by the FDA for treatment-resistant depression; however, according to the guidelines, it is only to be used "under the supervision of a health care provider in a certified doctor's office or clinic." That means medical professionals need to watch you use it, and then follow you after you've taken your dose, checking your vital signs and how you are doing clinically.

Point well taken but there were several who make the claim it is prescribed for depression. My reasoning is they are using this drug outside the areas it should and has been used …ANESTHESIA for sedation. This poor guy evidently had other issues with his cardiovascular system. Did they test him prior to treating his depression with Ketamine ?

Prescribed doesn't mean you get to take it home with you. According to the autopsy report, Perry was on ketamine infusion therapy, with the most recent therapy 1 1/2 weeks before death.

So is @RUBOB72 right in this thread or not ?? Can you declare victory ??

This was his hill. I don't think you would call it a victory.

He showed no signs of drugs in his system. Take it for what you wish. Most likely a heart attack since 54 is a danger age … his physical health sucked… hot tubs and jacuzzi’s can be harmful. The guy looked terrible some weeks ago.RIP

It means exactly that . No drugs found in his system. This idiot millionaire at some point loved his booze and drugs for years and he already had multiple medical issues . You aren’t very bright if you don’t see that. The guy more than likely had his heart attack as most suspect. In males your 50’s are a dangerous time for early death.

You seem to like to declare someone "right" or "wrong." Maybe the right or wrong is somewhere in between.

But since you like right and wrong and victory, would you please declare a winner in the Athan vs. Gavin QB thread? Sorely needed over there.
So bob and his adversaries in this thread are willing to call it a draw ??

Bob is a meanie, and he is mean to me and put me on ignore, so he cannot be a winner if I am judging. 🤣 A couple of years back, I would have given you the same treatment, but either your go nicer, or I loosened my britches and mellowed out, and you would be declared the winner, except I would not want to have to endure your insufferable celebration posts.

Fair?😬

Those who pray that the Post was wrong put too much faith in NPR, NYTimes , MSNBC and plenty of other unreliable newspaper rags.
Most on both sides of the fence claim newspapers can't be trusted if they don't report the news of the day in a way that fits their agenda.
TV networks the same.

You can get a prescription for ketamine for treatment resistant depression, specifically eketamine, but it has to be dispensed at a treatment facility under observation by a healthcare professional, and it has to be after at least two other antidepressant treatments have failed.

As has been said above, though, this is not that.
Just to clarify regarding ketamine home therapy, ketamine IS legally available by prescription for at home use, even though it's not approved by the FDA. So although I'm not saying this was the case, it would've been possible for Perry to legally have ketamine as a prescribed medication at home.

Physicians and certain other healthcare providers are legally allowed to order it for a patient, and, upon receipt of the prescription, it can be manufactured and dispensed by a pharmacy that's willing to make it. (certain compounding pharmacies that will make medications from scratch). I know one psychiatrist from a previous place of employment who had some success using ketamine sublingual troches (a tablet designed to be dissolved under the tongue) in occasional patients with severe treatment resistant depression.

That’s really an illegal street drug… but hey let’s try this and that and on and on. Big Pharma is the issue since their normal studies on a drug are limited to a small segment.

Exactly true but oddly there is a group who ALWAYS claim the NY Post is sowing misinformation. This I know … the NYTimes is a thousand light years away from it’first 100 years.

This is indisputable. The NY Post is what it is, but it’s been what it “is” for the last 30-40 years. The NYT used to be the gold standard for fair journalism, now, It’s impossible not to agree that they’ve made a hard left turn.

Bobby, not true. It's always been an agenda pushing POS publication. Pro Hitler. Took the position Poland invaded Germany in WW 2. Duke lacrosse scandal. Could give lots more examples.

Since the drug in its synthetic form last 3-4 hours in the system it is more than likely with his money and connections abused it without consulting his physician. That is why we see the push for all these new “ SUPER” drugs $$$$$

NYT does some great reporting sometimes but then they pushed the racist, neo-Marxist 1619 fabrication and crossed into pro-genocidal territory. CRT teaches white people are born bad and cant be fixed - hence the need to militate against them. This is 1930s blames-the-Jews stuff 100%.

Speaking of Jews, A Harvard Harris poll finds 51% of Zoomers think Israel should be ended and taken over.

American Colleges have been polluted beyond belief so I dont blame the Zooms as much as the elders who left them to the wolves. All those "Top 25 College" rankings are garbage. The higher up in the ranks the worse they are
