OT: Roofer recommendations

I had nails put in the wrong place on a roof on a home I purchased . It eventually caused problems . A roof that should have lasted 30 years only lasted 18

One leak I had ruined the ceiling sheet rock and the sheathing rotted. A leak in a roof causes major damage, and it takes a long time for the homeowner to know it is leaking. The water has to soak the insulation and then penetrate the paint before it shows itself. By then the damage is done. And ranches have such a low attic that it is impractical to go up and check every time it rains.

That does sound good.

On another note, anyone deal with the construction company “Power”?
At the time I needed a new roof, they happened to be in the neighborhood and knocked on the door. So I said sure give me a quote . What a mistake. They wanted my wife to be home , because they wow you with videos and presentation and an ultra high price . They hope the presentation gets the wife , rather than the blue collar roofer guy .
The power salesman wouldn’t take no for an answer . After about 2 hours I had to kick him out. It looked like he was about to cry . I said , ‘hey I told you I wasn’t making a deal today before you came here. I didn’t fool you , i was 100 percent honest.’
He kept coming down and down in price , but the price was still way too high. And there was a lot of bs in there : like we will staff the job with 10 people . And yeah there can’t be 10 people on the worksite without getting in each other’s way . Don’t deal with this company
I got a qoute from them for my roof that was bonkers high, more than a roof + solar would cost from a real company.

I always thought that there should be a better roofing system, punching thousands of holes through the roof doesn't seem like a good idea. This is a video of my issue. I am hoping to get 5 or 7 more years out of it (18 to 20 years) by doing my own repairs as leaks develop.

Is this your video?
We had a leak over an enclosed porch that damaged the sheet rock ceiling. We have pictures and video of the leak location in 2022. May 2023 new roof is installed. Still leaking in the exact same location. Roofing company has been back 3 or 4 times, and they thought it was due to improper flashing on a doghouse dormer (cape cod home) or coming in through the siding where two rooflines met. Nope.

One thing we did notice around the doghouse dormer is an awful lot of face nailed shingles using small trim nails used to nail coil wrap around windows. No roofing cement over those nails, but the dormer is not "upstream" from the leak. Bush league crap.

Called the roofer again yesterday and left a message about the trim nails and face nails, and has not returned my call. I strongly suspect what is shown in this video is the source of the problem. I'm an engineer by training, and as a volunteer firefighter, I have spent a fair amount of time on roofs. I think we will get to the source of the problem.

The weird part is that the leak seems to be in the EXACT same spot where the leak was with the old roof, which was completely removed. There could be something on the roof decking penetrating the tar paper and the shingles, but yesterday's inspection did not reveal anything.
