OT: RU switches back to Coca Cola

No, it's not. Pepsi and Coke taste very different.

Maybe he held that class during cold and allergy season.

Pepsi beats Coke hands down every day.

Pepsi-cola was born in New Bern, North Cackalacky. A good dose of citrus is what distinguishes it from Coca-cola, the pride of Hot Lanta.

Always Rutgers! Always Coca-Cola!

I remember getting the big cups of Coke at the RAC, with the big red plastic Rutgers cup. Still have a stack of those.

There's a lot of things I don't understand about the world but adults actually liking Mountain Dew is high on the list.

Recently I listened to an obese guy who was having a breakfast of two packs of Devil Dogs and a large Mountain Dew rag on a guy who was smoking a cigarette - "You know that stuff is gonna kill you."

My two favorite brands are Rutgers and Pepsi. Still have the Pepsi/Rutgers towel they gave out to fans a few years ago.

Well, I guess I have to get used to the brave new world.
Us Boomers are part of the 'Pepsi generation'...Coke was too acidic...give me Pepsi or RC Cola!! Coke was a powder to us and a 40s/50s soft drink to our parents..

RC Cola, Dr. Pepper, A&W Root beer and Snapple are all own by the same company.
7-Up (US only) and Canada Dry (US only) is also sold by that same company. Which is Dr Pepper Snapple Group.

Pinehurst, spent a summer back in the late 80s in Morehead City. Don't think there are many citrus trees in the New Bern area.

What in the heeellll, you say? A whole summer in the late 80s? You carry a carpet bag? Well, sir, a lemon slice/wedge is the standard garnish to our official state beverage: the sweet tea. Not a single lemon tree growing naturally anywhere in this Old North State, and yet we love our lemons in our sweet tea. Always have. And there you have the origin of using lemon/citrus in "Brad's Drink," the precursor to Pepsi-Cola. BTW, Morehead City is a sizable port city: lots of citrus shipped in there, forever. Now go take you a nap.

Looks like an easier transition to Ginger Beer now if Coke is back.
Next we'll be headed to the Jamaica Bowl. A new day has dawned.
Two individuals have filed a lawsuit against Diego, the London-based alcohol company that makes Red Stripe lager. The plaintiffs claim that Deigo has tricked customers into thinking the beer hails from Jamaica, when in reality Red Stripe is brewed and bottled in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The case argues that this “false advertising” allows Deigo to sell Red Stripe at substantially higher prices than domestic beer.
Nevah Ends Mon!

While making an effort to reduce my diet cola intake it is always diet coke over Pepsi. Have to be desperate to consume the latter.

I'm a dew addict. Helped put 25+ pounds on me and I suspect maybe diabetes. Also coincidentally need a few crowns/root canals for my 2-3 chipped teeth The problem orginated in childhood-when "experts" said coffee was so bad healthwise. Now sad to help protect aganst various cancers. Dew is my caffine/.coffee.

I also have drastically cut my soda consumption, but if I drink it, it's Coke over Pepsi. Easy choice for me. ;)

I also loved ending Roger Cohen's Coca Cola announcements at ball games. "There are 5 minutes left until the second half. PLENTY of time to get yourself an ice cold coca cola. Always Rutgers basketball..."

Reminds me of when I got to Australia and ordered a Fosters. I was promptly advised that no one drinks Fosters. I quickly learned that very few places even served it.

"But that's Australian, mate!"

Pnehurst AS I SAID-and you didn't refute-NO CITRUS TREES IN NC. Said nothing about Southerners liking any citrus fruits. BTW LOVE sweet tea but don't remember any traditions with lemon, yada. As a "carpetbagger" maybe didn't get into sweet tea until Cracker Barrel hit NJ. Yes, sweet tea with comp refills and Southern barbeque may be the best things from the south alomng with southern women.

Good for you. I stopped drinking soda over 10 years ago but will enjoy a Coke now and then. For me I love it with coal oven pizza.
I cut way down on chocolate and Soda about 10 years ago also. But
occasionally I love a Coke with a dark chocolate bar.

Three strikes, you're out. The name you were looking for is Diageo, and they sold Red Stripe to Heineken last year.

I like Coke but prefer craft Root Beers over any other soda. Mercury brewing up here in Ipswich , Ma. makes great soda beverages...

I'm confused by the numbers in these two articles; http://www.nj.com/education/2016/07...gs_coke_back_to_campus.html#incart_river_home

NJ.com said:
Rutgers first agreed to a 10-year, $10 million contract with Coke in 1994 before switching to Pepsi when it offered a decade-long, $17 million deal in 2005.

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1994-11-06/news/9411060065_1_pepsi-cola-coke-cola-wars

Chicago Tribune said:
Pepsi made headlines two years ago when it outbid Coke for a $14 million, 12-year monopoly at Penn State. Coke retaliated by outbidding Pepsi for a $10 million, 10-year exclusive deal at Rutgers.

The NJ.com article says we got $17 million for 10 years with Pepsi from 2005-2015. Then the Chicago Tribune article says we got $10 million for our new contract with Coke. Did we get a worse deal than we had with the more recent contract? Or does the Chicago Tribune article incorrectly apply the $10 million contract from 1994 to this new one?

that's where me as a smoker .. i would call the bastard a fat lardass and tell him he's gonna suffer back pain, shortness of breath, excessive stress on his knees and ankles, heart disease, and possibly a heart attack .. all from being a fat pos [smoke].... at least all i have to worry about is the potential of lung cancer

The tribune article was from 1994. So as of now, it's:

94-04 =$1 million per year Coke
05-15 =$1.7 million per year Pepsi
16 and beyond = Coke with terms not disclosed yet

I LOVE Briars Birch Beer (which is actually a soda). Briars is a New Jersey company that also makes other sodas. Do any of you know why you have to know someone in the CIA to find it at a New Jersey store ?
