I have been critical of the women's track team in the past but have to give them props today. Their 4x400 qualified for the championship of America at Penn Relays yesterday. The race will be run tomorrow evening against some of the best in the country. Nice job by the ladies and the coaches! Now hopefully the men can also qualify, their heat goes off around 4:30 today.

Who is UTech?

First off, GREAT stuff! Second, and I've said this in several threads now:

- men and women's track and field are starting to build

- we have a shot at a couple of individual AND relays titles or, at the very least, gaining points in more events this year than I can recall in the Director's Cup era (women's long jump, men's long jump, both 4x400 relays, men's 400...and think I'm missing one event)

- recruiting in the B1G has gotten much better (as it has for almost every sport across the board). We have already landed a nice share of NJ's best this year and I don't expect that trend to end anytime soon.

Oh, no, definitely in the long jump. Crawford is elite. The one you're missing is Miribelli (sp?) in the javelin. He's quite solid, and may only be a sophomore.

lol I know CC, trust me, I meant "women's" ...think I got that mixed up with women's high jump?

women also qualify for the 4x200 w/ the 3rd fastest time!

WOW!

I LOVE the Penn Relays. Back when I was at RU......in the 1980s...between my studies and a FT job as director of personnel at a community college in NJ....I was stressed out. I stumbled on the Penn Relays and spent a few afternoons high up in the seats watching the races...back then we had several good hurdlers.....
Hours and hours relaxing in the sun.....just enjoying the races,,, a good memory.....

For those who care, the men won their heat in the 4x4. Brown came from 4th place on the anchor leg, which - as anybody that's run on that track with the short straightaway can tell you - is hard to do. He had to do it running wide on the final turn. 3:09.77 on a rainy day, to qualify as the fourth seed in the Championship of America!

Went once as a kid. It was pretty cool. The sound the crowd makes when someone is really flying is one of a kind

If anyone cares, I ran in the the Relays in 73 and 74. After I ran in the 4x400 John Moon ( he was my high school coach Freshman and Soph year).of Seton Hall offered me a scholly to run for Seton Hall. I decided to go to Rutgers.

BTW great guy and Coach and what Seton Hall did to him a few years ago, cutting the sport, was BS.

A very good guy. And as good a coach as Seton Hall has had.
