Anyone who knows NJ knows that wrestling would be the program to benefit the quickest from Rutgers' entrance into the B1G.

This is what make B1G wrestling so tough is that is the 6th best class in the B1G.

Guys healthy for the national tournament...we are only a couple of years from having a lineup that matches up with them in enough weight classes to make things interesting...we are in such a talent rich high school recruiting area where kids actually do want to stay home...PSU is really or only competition for local recruits and they recruit nationally now primarily...

Unfortunately those teams backups are enough to win conference championships, the chance that Iowa, OSU, and PSU are all resting everyone is smaller than RU winning this years football conference championship. The gap between the top schools and us is bigger than just about any sport
True, but it is one of the only sports we seem to be closing the gap. Don't forget just two years ago we finally became fully funded. Also a school like psu has a wrestling club which has an annual endowment of $2 mil. and is an Olympic training center. Rutgers they're lucky if the Scarlet Knight Wrestling Club(SKWC) can scrape together $200K. We also wrestle in the basement of a building constructed in 1931 which can't accommodate all the wrestlers at the same time. The others new facilities.
Things are changing and we have many areas which are steadily improving. The others are already there, so their ceiling is fixed. This program was left for dead just 12 years ago. The BOG and President wanted it axed, Mulcahy is the one who wanted it kept.
After July 2019 Wrestling ...among others ...moves to the new practice facility.

I know. Plans, steel and concrete are nice. But actually practicing and selling it to recruits is another item all together. Once we're in it, it'll be a great selling point. Till then it's still a detriment. It's why new developments build model homes. Until you see it physically, it's a tough sell.
