We always talk about being a community on this board, now is the time to step up and support one of Rutgers most successful programs.

There are a little over 12,000 tickets currently sold for the Historic Battle of the Birthplace taking place at High Point Solutions Stadium at 11:00am 11/19/2016 prior to the Penn State Game, but we know we, as a Rutgers community, can do better than that.

If you have not already purchased a ticket to the match, please consider doing so for only $10.00 a ticket. Tickets will also be available on game day.

Consider it a Pregame for your Tailgate.
* Lots at 10:15-10:30am
* Go to the Battle from 11:00am - 1:00pm and see Two Nationally Ranked Programs Square Off.
* Setup your tailgate at 1:30pm and go till 8pm Kickoff.

Also Please help spread the word about Group tickets to your local High School, Club or Recreational departments you may have contact with about setting up a group trip to this Historic Event.

Group tickets are available for only $6 a piece for parties of 20 or more.
To purchase tickets to Battle at the Birthplace click here, or call 1-866-445-GORU.

Notes about the Match:
Longstanding New Jersey wrestling rivals Rutgers and Princeton will add a new chapter to their history at the first ever "Battle at the Birthplace", presented by Autoland, on Saturday, Nov. 19 inside High Point Solutions Stadium. The historic dual-meet event will occur at 11 a.m. prior to Rutgers football versus Penn State later that evening. The Scarlet Knights are looking to shatter their total season long attendance of 17,464 from 2015-16 during this single match.

Our wrestling student-athletes are counting on our biggest fans to create an electric atmosphere for the first ever Battle at the Birthplace.

I'm sorry... I just can't watch a man grapple another man.

Good luck with that, though!

Any idea as to how parking for the match will work? I have to leave after the match but will be back for the game.

How does parking work? Will there be exit & reentry? I'm not at a point in my life anymore where I can sit around drinking for 7 hours.

Reagular Parking Pass Rules Apply: Once your in the Lot, Your In the Lot.

If ou plan on leaving then coming back closer to Football Gametime Do the Following"
Park at the RAC and take the Bus Over.
After the Match Bus Back and Leave.
Come back closer to game time and park in your assigned Football Lot.

Sorry to see you are still not yet secure in your Sexuality.
Yet you are probably the same guy watches UFC and calls MMA Fighters Real Men and fighters. Newsflash 90% of them have Wrestling (Grappling) as their base technique.

Sorry but it is a bit of lame excuse, and every person who has wrestled or enjoys the sport gets sick of hearing that one.

Any possibility of donating tickets for youth or HS programs?

You should make more assumptions. Because absolutely everything that you wrote, here, is untrue.

Again, good luck with your thing, there. I have nothing against the sport. I just don't enjoy watching it.

Guys let's not argue here. This is one of our best sports and needs our support.

That's great. I never disputed that. But I'm also not gonna suffer some asshole telling me what I can or can't post. He's got some kind of a personal beef with me, he can take it up with me personally.

All, I have asked the athletic department to get some type of sticker that can be put on your parking pass so you can re-enter. They are thinking about it but problem will be there will be football tailgaters in the lot when the match is over and people trying to pull out when canopies are up etc. My solution to them was let the wrestling fans cars be parked in the back of the lots because no one will be parking that far back at that time. will let you know.

If they get upwards of 20K to this event which seems like a possibility I hope they have some plans in place to control parking.

This could turn into a logistical nightmare if they let thousands without passes park in the lots.

Unless all nonpass holders have to park in the RAC?

They would need to do a shuttle from the RAC if that happens.

No on is allowed in the lots unless you have a football parking pass. All others will need to park at the RAC

Will there be a shuttle to the stadium from the RAC? That's kind of an important detail.

Yes... The Shuttle will be running starting at, I believe 9am, and will run thru a least 3pm, then start up again for football at it's regular time.

I have no beef with you, never did, In fact I like you and think you are a good guy. I just thought it was a childish comment that was unwarranted under the circumstances.Unfortunately I got sucked in and made a childish comment of my own, and for that I apologize.

I currently have one extra seat, I will be happy to give it to you and explain the sport at the event so you can better understand it if you wish.

Now I will stop arguing with you because it takes away from the general point if my original post which is supporting Rutgers Wrestling.

Go Knights

This is likely not going to happen...... logistically it can still be a nightmare, and they want everything to run smooth.
What they should be doing is having the parkng attendants asking every car if they are going to the Battle and staying, or leaving. Then direct them from there.

Go f*ck yourself.

Sorry but your initial post was not necessary. The OP started the thread with a very informative post which was solely an attempt to generate interest in the event. The fact that you don't like the sport added nothing and was not funny. No need to put down a sport where the athletes have done such a good job of representing the University.

Does anyone know how many fans the Atlantic City Convention Hall holds for the state tournament? If we can top that number in ticket sales this will have to be considered the biggest wrestling event in state history.

Lou , 10,400

This, and yes we are alreasy over that number. I thing the one year they had it at Continental arena when Convention Hall was under construction ('98 or '99) they put about 14,000 in there so it will be close

I hope all 12k people who bought tickets are clear about this. I have season wrestling tickets and didn't realize I had to arrive early to take the RAC shuttle (maybe it's written on the tickets). We could have some unhappy fans, especially those attending their first wrestling match. $$$$

I believe this information will be provided in a flyer when the Season ticket RFID Cards are sent out in the mail, and will also be included in an Email Blast closer to the match from Athletics.

This should be interesting. Penn State will have their 141, 149, 157, and 285 back but the rest will either be new or new to the weight and our 285 has only wrestled a few matches due to injury. The expect the new/shifted guys to be really good, just not this early in the season. Great time to catch them so this should be an exciting match! I'll check the PSU boards and post about it on those. Someone from here should also make sure the Lehigh forum knows.

Make sure you let them know we're wrestling Princeton.

Ugg... it must be past my bedtime. I'll let them know for sure. Thanks, I didn't check the PSU schedule beforehand and just assumed it was a PSU match. But, as it turns out you'll be visiting us on Friday January 13th. This match is still early for our squad so if you feel like heading to State College for a Friday night match have at it...You should be able to get a hotel for less than a hundred dollars. The match will be sold out but there are always tickets for sale out front of REC Hall for face or less. I mean always, so don't worry and come on up.

Just so everyone knows...... Princeton is not a walk in the park. they have 5 Top 20 Wrestlers, the same as Rutgers, this is going to be a really go match and by no means is a mail it in easy win.

you started it here, you had nothing nice to say or contribute in a meaningful way so you should have kept out of the thread if we're being honest. Now you resort to name calling, c'mon, you are better than this

I got an answer to this question:

Anyone who is interested in purchasing tickets and having them donated to a Youth Program, High School Team, or Club Program
Please reach out to Billy Ashnault - Director of Operations for the Wrestling Team at washnault@scarletknights.com for information and to donate.

I know some of you may not necessarily want to go to the match but would be willing to support the program in this way.

You can also ask me if you have any other questions.
they ought to donate tix imho, great for the program

Penn State returns all but three starters from last years team. Only 125,133 and 197 are gone. The rest of the lineup remains the same. The new 125 and 133 are currently ranked 10 nationally in their weight class. Rutgers would only be favored in one weight class and that is 141. It wouldn't matter if it early in the season or the middle like it is this year. Rutgers still has a ways to go to be able to compete with Penn state and the other top program.

Ivy league wrestling is elite. This is our oldest sport rival, it should be really fun. Like I said in some other thread, Wrestling is the standard bearer on how we should want all of our sports programs to be like.

"Rutgers University, chartered in 1766 as Queens College, celebrates its 250th Anniversary in 2016. The Rutgers and Princeton wrestling programs have met 79 times since 1931, with the Scarlet Knights winning 20 consecutive matches in the rivalry. All-time, RU holds the slight edge over the Tigers, 41-33-5.

The rich athletic tradition between the two schools extends to the gridiron, with Rutgers and Princeton meeting in the first ever collegiate football game on Nov. 6, 1869 on the current site of the College Ave. Gym, dubbing Rutgers "The Birthplace of College Football."
