UGH - this is going to get worse before it fades away - and fading away is long way off. Louisville is neck deep in this muck - and now it is reported Army has been contacted because the Wake investigators have reason to believe that information was offered to them. Involved or not- Army will now be under the microscope - and if somebody from Army was contacted by Elrod - and even if they bluntly said "Hell no! - get away from me" - but they did not report it - if it is shown that they had been offered inappropriate information and took no action - at Army they will be in serious, serious honor code trouble.

No doubt - every team that played Wake Forest this year (and prior) will be having to answer questions - regardless of whether or not they had ever been contacted or offered in any way.
Here's the Wake schedule for this year - just try to look at it and not wonder if the scores, the point spread, even the outcome might have been different in some of them - maybe - maybe not ... but you wonder.

Thu, Sep 1 vs Tulane W 3 - 7
Sat, Sep 10 @ Duke W 24 - 14
Sat, Sep 17 vs Delaware W 21 - 38
Sat, Sep 24 @ Indiana W 33 - 28
Sat, Oct 1 @ N Carolina St L 16 - 33
Sat, Oct 8 vs Syracuse W 9 - 28
Sat, Oct 15 @ Florida State L 6 - 17
Sat, Oct 29 vs Army L 21 - 13
Sat, Nov 5 vs Virginia W 20 - 27
Sat, Nov 12 @ Louisville L 12 - 44
Sat, Nov 19 vs Clemson L 35 - 13 Final
Sat, Nov 26 vs Boston College L 17 - 14 Final

What's the reason behind this guy giving away info? Money? Why would anyone try and hurt the team they work for?

Interesting stuff - but why as Rutgers fans should we care? Seems we have a predisposition to throw stones while we are living in the glass house.

- Why? guess it could be viewed as"OT" - but Rutgers fans - as college football fans - might care because:
(1.) it will consume a lot of College Football news for a while
(2.) it potentially may cost some coaches their job - or eliminate them from some current/future opportunities (and RU is shopping right now)
(3.) depending how the story unfolds - there could be questions about certain programs -questions that might factor into recruits considerations - which may or may not impact choices.
(4.) it gives Rutgers fans something to ponder - other than who is going to be the next OC?
( 5.) one word - Schadenfreude

- for clarity - added the "OT"

then people wondered why Julie Herman was a disaster..she was trained by Jurich..strippers and cash for Bball recruits..cheating and lying for football .Nice program!

You seem overly concerned. I think its great anytime another program gets caught cheating. It looks bad for any of the teams that accepted his info

You forgot Rick "I bang cocktail waitresses two at a time" Pitino...........never take care of an abortioin yourself. Make sure someone does it for you....

But they win so nobody cares and it will all just go away ..

This is a great Free Board topic for all the reasons listed.

Maybe not so much for the Round Table but good for here.

Right. This is the fourth thread on this topic. I started one here https://rutgers.forums.rivals.com/t...ch-attacked-by-wetzel-over-wakeyleaks.115482/
linking a Wetzel article on how dirty Louisville is.

Here's the thing as it pertains to RU:
It is hilarious to me how Rutgers got lambasted last year for some player arrests and Flood's attempt to influence a grade. Losing team, loser coach, it's a huge scandal. Winning cures all ills, no matter how bad.

I look at all that stuff with this in mind...

Good or bad this is what happens when you throw "Rutgers Football/Athletics" out there:

This is a football board, Aleppo is important. But there are other more meaningful places to discuss that. We discuss football here.

This is a smoke screen to cover louisville. Btw dude who gave it out 10 year ban from employment in an ncaa function or broadcasting...string him up.

Wow, we almost had the same exact thought on this. Great minds think alike.

I think all Rutgers fans need to consider whether this is happening here. Ray Lucas was a huge Flood guy. I am certain the only reason we went 2-10 was he gave our plays to Meyer, Harbaugh and Company. With our talent this is the only possible explanation for 2-10. I am calling for an immediate inquiry.

Barry O fixed Syria with his red line in sand..then did NOTHING..right after he called Issis 'jv'..two great moves.:bomb:
I see Wake Forest has contacted Army football about the leak..
Army beat Wake this year.

I was just watching Outside the Lines about this. It was funny how the SEC shills,(Finebaum and Co.) were calling Petrino a pathological liar and he has always been a liar and check his record for back stabbing people ect. ect. If he was still at Arkansas they would call it "doing what they could to gain a competitive advantage" or some crap to justify it by an SEC school.

Paul Finebaum, the man with a face for radio.

Excuse me sir. It may be message board etiquette in Nebraska to stay on topic, but out here we prefer to fight for pages about completely unrelated topics to the OP. You could at least do the honorable thing (since we're hosting you here) and insult someone.

What a shame that Delaware will now get the Death Penalty

Ha - just found out the man at the center of all this - Tommy Elrod - graduated with me from Winter Park High School. As a matter of fact, he sat next to me in English class. I never thought much of his quarterbacking skills and when he broke his hand his senior year of HS, I never thought he'd make it to the college game, let alone earn a spot on a 1A roster. He was a pretty smart guy; too bad he never learned a thing about ethics or morals.

Hey its called acquiring intelligence, that is what we want out Armed Forces to do :)

Maybe it happened to Rutgers. It might explain the blowouts.[roll] As college football fans we should care because the integrity of the game is at stake. Over the last few years we seen schools go to great lengths to win. Baylor and Vandy ignored major crimes by players so they could continue to play and win. And now this at Wake Forest.

ACC and Swofford, couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys.

Not really funny, but.......Suppose you accept the game plan against Wake to have a definite advantage and you don't want anyone to know, understand that part. However, after cheating, you still lose the game.
Wouldn't it be more embarrassing to report it after the fact. This would lead to all sorts of questions about your program that have nothing to do with inappropriate action.
Probably wouldn't have raised an eyebrow at RU this year.

Even the acc's joke schools are cheats.

What school I'm that league hSnt been sanctioned? Can't think of one.

A related point. Just wonder if Elrod had any bets in the games and if so which way did he bet the spread. This is something that surely will surface as the NCAA or ACC look further into this mess.
