Did anybody else see the three V-22 Osprey (military aircraft) overhead this afternoon? The walls in my house were vibrating from what I thought was a helicopter around 2:30 this afternoon. Then, while I was going to pick up my daughter from the high school about an hour later, I heard it again. I looked up and saw three Osprey in formation, heading northeast. A pretty cool sight. I wonder if that had anything to do with Obama's appearance here Sunday.

I was certainly not mocking the OP or his post, but I have deleted my link just in case anyone else got that idea. --And yes, those are very cool.

The previous helicopter is total weak sauce. Need to upgrade to an AW109, at the very least.

Those birds were at Newark Airport in preparation for the POTUS coming Sunday to Rutgers. They arrived at about 1130 noonish and we're still there when I left work they looked awesome.

A graduation fly-by?

Ah that must have been what I heard flying overhead in Somerset this afternoon, kinda wish I was outside or near a window.

Was just about to mention this then saw you posted it. The air show at Lakehurst is this weekend we live ten miles from there almost in the flight path. Usually we just get to see cargo and refueler planes. But this week we've seen everything from f-16's to the Osprey's pretty cool. My wife loves living so close to a base she was an army brat. We're going this weekend with special passes(have no idea what they allow entry to) with our neighbor's who were in the Air Force but now are outside contractors at the base.

Idn't Lakehurst Navy? It does abut McGuire AFB.

I see these when they come to West Point. They scoot around pretty low when cruising the Hudson. Interestingly we have loads of real ospreys local now. Raptors are everywhere these days. Eagle poop (streamer) shut down the nuke plant a few months ago

Was at Old Queens Senior reception earlier today. President Barchi mentioned in his speech that he was over at the golf course watching the helicopter practice run for Sunday earlier in the afternoon.

No but this morning I saw a huge plane in the distance that caught my attention. Does anyone know what type of plane this is?

Like RU4Real said it's a joint base now. Used to be just Navy and where they tested catapults for Aircraft carriers. It's mostly the cargo planes flying in and out. Like the one in Extra Point's picture probably 10 to 12 everyday and Blackhawk helicopters. Once in a while we get to see the cool stuff fly in but not often.
