OT: UConn game tonight in Hartford

Here for work so figured out attend the game this evening at the old barn

Storied program with 6 natties but thank God we play at the Rac the overwhelming majority of the time, and not a bunch of quasi neutral site games like they do in Hartford

I know they do it to appease the fan
Base in hartford, to appeal to Boosters there and for obviouslythe money, but Gampbell is such a superior venue than the XL center

The place is beyond dumpy
Old, grimy, cramped, and overall, just a terrible venue

When it was new i loved going to Whalers' games there

Went to quite a few women BE tournament games there back when RU was in Big East

It’s kind of a sleeper area in a sleeper city, I feel like it has potential, but also understand why the Whalers moved

Very similar to Albany with the layout and arena, no professional team, but some minor-league teams in college occupy the arena, and the downtown scene and vibe

I remember watching SportsCenter sometime the 90s, and there was a whalers playoff game they were talking about, not filled to anywhere near capacity and they showed a sign in the crowd saying “where the hell is everybody?!!”
