OT: visiting Baltimore / restaurants

Good pick. Nice romantic get away. Have not been there in a while so Inwould hesitate to recommend a restaurant

Good idea. Newport is beautiful. I haven't been there in a while so I would hesitate to recommend a restaurant. But it really is a beautiful place. And probably safer then Baltimore at the moment.

fascinating use of the quote function.

Well Baltimore has not burned, so I think I'm OK

I have reservations now at the capital Grille and at the B & O

However, Nother feels adventurous or very particular to Baltimore… So I'm still looking for inspiration, at a place that still has reservations available that is!
I've eaten at a ton of steakhouses over the years and cook a lot of steak myself. I had the filet mignon at the Capital Grille in DC and it was the best I've ever had.

I've been living in Baltimore for 2.5 years. Best bets:

Woodberry Kitchen (best meal of my life)
Costa's for crabs.
Thames St Oyster House is amazing. Best oysters in the state. Also get the lobster Mac n cheese.
And if you want the best wings I've had in my life (I'm a wing connossieur), take an Uber over to iBar, order some hot wings chef style, fried hard and thank me later.

I've eaten at Capital Grille and it's definitely very good.
As far as chains go Capital Grille is solid. Best thing about the place though Is they have a 15$ corking fee. Not many decent steakhouses with liquor licenses' that allow you to bring your own wine.

Too bad the Polo Grill is closed; it was the best and nicest restaurant in Baltimore (located right across from Johns Hopkins).

I agree with Thames St Oyster House. Excellent Oysters. I don't think we even had a main course the last time we were there.

You might want to try this place also. Historic building.

The Yelp reviews are mixed.

Are the burgers really good? that is key.

Nothing romantic about the Owl Bar at all. Don't even go there for a night cap. If you're in Mt. Vernon, I do recommend having a drink at 13th Floor in The Belvedere. The view alone is worth it. Cocktails are good, too.

Agree 100%. Thames St Oyster House is fantastic.

Moving away from seafood though, I had a great dinner at the Brewer's Art in Mount Vernon. It celebrates beer and food pairings, but quite a bit more upscale than a "brew pub."

+1 on The Brewers Art. Also a good choice in Mt. Vernon. It'll be packed though.
