OT: Where do you hit balls in the winter? (Golf)

Oh- so many bad replies jumped out at me…

On a serious note- the last couple years of 40-50 degree weather allowed so many options. Not sure where to go in the bad weather

For most part sticks are put away Jan - March unless there is a nice sunny day with no wind then we may go over to the West 9 to play a few holes. Maybe the simulator once or twice.

My buddy and I play at pebble creek in colts neck. Our threshold is mid thirties, no wind, sun out.
Same here!!!
If conditions are met, 37, no wind and sun. “you guys are crazy”
Is ALWAYS met with “It was beautiful out there”😊
We do Rock Spring in West Orange

I have a half finished basement. I currently hit plastic and real golf balls into a golf net, but I am thinking about taking the plunge and purchasing a golf simulator. I have an eight foot drop ceiling in my basement but the actual ceiling is 10 foot high. I meeting with my contractor tomorrow to see the best way to raise the height of the drop ceilling in a cost effective manner. I then have to figure out the best forms of launch monitors, video cameras and screen enclosure within my budget.

The simulators today are insane.
As tech illiterate as I am, I could never do it justice by buying it.
A net with a good mat and ceiling height is all I need. (And don’t have)

I can't tell you how many times I hit the ceiling on a swing follow through despite my best efforts not to.

Indoor simulator. BYOB a plus. Must be a great business based on crowds, but you definitely need serious cash to buy the latest and greatest tech.
I recently searched amazon for a small spotlight to highlight top of a Christmas tree. Results mostly came in the form of "disco ball spotlight".. but so many of the reviews were for golf simulator use. And, knowing tech a bit, I can suggest there has never been a better time to go DIY it... but the right space, of course, is the main issue.

It’s great for a public golf course.
The 3rd hole is one of the great par 3s in the entire state.
That’s 200 carry from the tips

It was part of your club and a stand alone private before that. The views of the city skyline on that hole is spectacular too. I just joined an indoor golf place. Very good deal and the technology is crazy. It even gives you uneven lies.

For avid golfers the terms “hitting balls” is the norm.

“Are you playing today?
Nope, I’m just gonna hit balls😊
it was more about the entirety of the question...there are other forums on the internet that would not equate the question to golf. lol

The technology is great. Spent 45 min on the simulator and fixed my swing. Wouldn’t be able to do that on a range

When I was a kid I signed up to caddie there because it was closest to home but ended up at to ECCC when I found out they paid $1 more per round.

Hard to imagine a better area Par 3 than #11 at Essex County.

Skytrak and Net in my basement.

On a side note, a bunch of years ago I played golf with a boss of mine. His locker was next to yours….his name was Dave W and he lived in West Orange.

This is all you need. They regularly go on sale refurbished for $700 on Amazon. Ignore those $10k all in one bundles. Then spend another $150-200 on a mat and net, pick out what software you want. GSpro is the best.

You can just buy the Skytrak unit and not their software? It works with any software? I am not familiar with the setup and all the intricacies. Any info you can add would be great, a few buddies and I have been talking about setting something up in one of our garages. Thanks!

I have a good net that reruns the ball to my feet…and a range quality mat. Good mat is better on the hands and wrists if you hit a lot of balls. I hit hundreds of balls every day…so it is worth it.

I don’t even use it for playing rounds of golf. Just use it as a driving range and the monitor gives me feedback since I’m hitting into a net that’s 8 feet away from me.
