OT: Yankees Playoffs thread

Here we go again...you would think that Tanaka loaded the bases on 72 pitches and Keuchele struck out the side in a single pitch (in the 1st) LOL. ENOUGH!

These away teams come into Yankee stadium and forget how to play baseball. Yankees will get one in Houston and onto the series

Yankees are playing real well, hopefully they bring the bats back to Houston with them.

So many stars of this one. Gotta love this bunch. GO Yankees, back to Houston.
Bird, Judge, and Sanchez - the Baby Bombers are going to be special to watch for the next 10-15 years. Wow. Another amazing game for Tanaka!

And there are more Baby Bombers coming soon!

Tanaka is have a great series.

I still can't believe that Yankees are doing so well.

This is the best job that the GM has done in his tenure.

Yankees and Dodgers would make it exciting.

What position will he play with the Yanks ?
The Yankees can not afford to sign NJ's own Todd Frazier. He sadly wont be back. This will be his last big contract. Yankees last chance to get under the tax threshold.

He loves the Yankees. I could see him signing a team friendly deal if the Yanks give him multiple years. In reality, he's a .220 hitter with some power. On the Yankees, he has been a leader and clubhouse presence with personality, something they lacked before he came.

He loves the Yankees isnt an issue but the Yankees can't afford a 3 year 30/40 million contract unless Tanaka ops out which won't happen.

Frazier can be a DH and part-time infielder, at the right price.

No he can't. The Yankees are trying to get under the tax cap. This will be their only chance. Todd Frazier will command at the minimum a 3 year 30 mill deal. Its his last shot at a big time, retirement deal. Not that the Yankees don't want him or he wants to stay. Just bad timing.

Frazier may wind up with the Mets where he'll be a good guy, continue to hit in the low 200s and suffer some freak injury which will keep him out for at least 1/3 of the season.

It can still be done. A-Rod and his $21mm come off the books, as well as the $4+mm for Tyler Clippard, and the $3.5mm for Chris Carter. That's all dead money. Then we have Sabathia's $25mm, Holliday's $13mm, Pineda's $7+mm off the books. Didi, Sonny, Betances, Warren, HIcks, Kahnle, Romine and Shreve are all arbitration eligible this offseason, so you figure at least Didi, Sonny, Tommy and Hicks will get pretty good bumps.
I think the whole thing revolves around if they can move Ellsbury and how much of the $63+mm they owe him over the next three years they'l have to eat to make it happen.
I would think they'd try to bring Sabathia back, but can't see him getting more than $10mm (at least from the Yanks), and they're probably going to go after Otani, the Japanese pitcher.
They can always move Headley too, he'll be making $13mm next year. The idea would be to bring Torres up and platoon him with Frazier at third.
If they want to, they can. We'll see if the interest is there, it just may not be. But if they really want to do it, it can be done. They'll want to move Ellsbury first, though. That's the key for the whole offseason, so I doubt anything gets done in free agency before that happens.

1. There's a big market for .215 hitting 3rd basemen ?
2..Or Ellsbury ?
3. Otani is gonna be expensive.
4 Has anybody seen Castro or Torres play third ?
5. I'm beginning to think they're gonna move Betances.

Frazier will not be back. Zero chance. I mean zero. Torres is an absolute stud. I mean stud. And behind him we have Andjular. We are sliding those guys in at no cost. Torres is unproven but should be a much better player than Frazier next year.

Frazier may agree to a one year deal with hopes of proving his batting slide is an aberration and be in a better place next year to get that big, three year deal. Torres is young, unproven and coming of an injury. I would not be surprised to see Frazier come back on a one year deal. Shame he's booted a few balls in the post season as I think the fielding is a big part of the Yankees decision.

Also, any financial projections that the club made going forward, regarding max payroll, etc..are getting wiped off the table with each win. Clearly this is a championship caliber team as it is and will be supported as such next year and going forward with increased attendance, viewership, etc... Any financial issues are gone.

They would be absolutely foolish not to get under the cap next year no matter what happens this postseason. If they want to eventually be able to keep that young core together later they have to get a reset on the luxury tax penalties. Cashman has made this clear.

Guess we'll have to see how it plays out. But you can see the fan base coming back, getting re-engaged as this team proves it's not just an exciting core of young guys, but a legitimate WS contender and maybe, unbelievably, the most dominating team in the game. They're outscoring the Astros 24-9 through five games. With a little luck in Houston, this series would already be over. That Houston team is real good, too.

What they're doing is just remarkable and will mean a significant increase in revenue which I contend will certainly change how they look at what they can and can't do. I just don't see the Yankees risking a shot at another dynasty to stay under the cap when the money is made fielding a dynasty.

I don't see what they are really risking with Frazier. Torres would be playing right now if he didn't get hurt. We have to make room for Torres. He is that good. I'm talking a shot at one of the best in the game good. I know he hasn't proven it yet but it's a chance they are going to and should take. Not to mention we have Andjular as well.

Torres will start next year in triple a. He's 20 years old and coming off Tommy john surgery. I have a feeling that he's headed to second base. He has the range and quickness to be a cornerstone of the middle infield for a long, long time. You want some power at third base, Torres has never hit more than 11 HR's in the minors. They'll move Castro to make room for him in 2019.

Wouldn't it be great if they somehow could get Clint Frazier to play at 3rd? No idea if he's verer played infield but he's got a 3rd baseman's build. That would make room for the outfield prospects like Dustin Fowler....

I'd also like to see betances moved to the starting rotation once they get him sorted out. Doesn't look like he has the make up of a reliever and he's got that giant build of a guy who can throw all day long...

Clint Frazier is going to be great as well - Judge, Gardner, Frazier, and Hicks in the OF.
