Plenty have made it in their first season, I believe the distinction I’ve seen reported is that he was the first running back to win in their first two seasons.

RB Jim Grabowski, SB I & II with the Packers.

I’m sure there were others.

Maybe they meant the chance to be the 1st player to do it three times?
