I agree we’ve never been good offensively and likely never will be under this regime. I think the path to winning under Pikiell is great defense and just enough offense. That’s what we had in 2020 and hopefully we can do it again. If not, someone else will get a shot.
Agreed, I’ll never question the guy defensively. He has taken some absolute superstars away in games.
With that said, my concern is that formula isn’t possible anymore. Unless the B1G money/NIL bucket is enough. I’m not sure he’s going to get the chance to coach guys like Grant or Lathan for 3-4 years.

no one outside of the greater Piscataway area cares about the ineptness of Rutgers or pike. On the recruiting trail , I imagine he will get roasted but he’s not going to go after top flight guys anymore

No one is wanted to see that, but failure is a pretty strong word. If you guys don’t think recruits, their parents, handlers, aau coaches, competing coaches won’t remember you’re all being foolish.

How about we had 2 top level NBA talents as FRESHMAN when every announcer around the league has stated multiple times that it is hard to win as a freshman in a man's league. These are 18yo kids(as talented as they are) playing against 22-24yo men. It is very clear how coaches have prioritized older more seasoned players for winning success in this new generation.
This is not to say our coaching was putrid at times this year and deserve their own conversation 10x over. Ace and Dylan carried this team on offense and clearly they maintained or even upped their status in the NBA draft, but they have a TON to learn in playing defense.
It wouldn't surprise me that kids actually see what Ace/Dylan were able to do on this team and have ability to have a green light on offense to showcase their skills wanting to come here.
I could care less what the nation thinks, just recruits and handlers. 3.4.5 stars all want to play in the ncaas. You’re kidding yourself if you think this won’t be remembered. And for those counting on the nba draft for publicity, talk about Rutgers not even getting noticed. Sad that you think Wilbon not thinking of us is a good thing. We’re already irrelevant.

With two of the top college players it's a mystery how this season was such a failure
Rutgers isn't on anyone's great programs list , it's been on the fair to middling list of also rans for years.
No one is laughing at the program because it hasn't earned the type of respect and expectations the better programs have and get knocked for having a season like this one Rutgers just went through.
What makes it worse, college basketball fans aren't laughing at Rutgers because they don't care enough about it to laugh at its failures.
Well we made the tournament effectively three times with a bunch of mainly 3* guys and missed with two 5* guys.. what conclusion should they draw exactly?

This would be like schiano having jayden daniels, micah parsons, sauce gardner, garrett wilson, paris johnson, jalen carter, joe alt and aiden hutchinson and going 5-7.
Because in ten years we solved the chicken and the egg. Pike caught lightning in a bottle with those three or so guys. In the NIL he’s not getting 3+ under recruited guys to overachieve for 3,4 or even a Covid year.

You’re failing to comprehend my overall point which is that nobody outside of the Rutgers fanbase generally gives a $hit. Reality is that we’re gonna get the same 3/4 star recruits going forward that we’ve been getting. The chances of us landing another 5 star recruit anytime soon were always pretty slim whether we made the tournament or not…hate to break that to you.
There's a difference between being mad/disappointed about the season and projecting that forward to all the future seasons as well.
The season sucked. No one denies that. It's the doomcasting about how it will kill us forever that is annoying and, imo, wrong.
Our football team is already irrelevant to the nation. Let me know when RU football wins a conference title or even goes to more than the toilet bowl.
Schiano had massive NFL talent on his teams couldn’t do either of the above.

What are you saying?? It's a well known FACT that Schiano developes defensive players and now his assistants like FLAHERTY are doing the same--- massive NFL talent ?? RU made then able to get a chance at the NFL , we didn't buy or recruit them.
It may not kill us forever, but it is doubtful that Pikiell will be able to live this down any time soon.
Yea I was told that no one outside of nj.com would bring up the horrible results and that it wouldn’t be used to negatively recruit. Just like media didn’t report on Rice debacle and Jordan’s results. 2 top 5 picks on the roster gets a pass.
0 - We weren't a bubble team, or made a run to get close. Focus is on teams making tournament or just missing out, not teams not living up to expectations.
It was totally fair. Isola noted that we played well at time but the supporting cast just wasn’t good enough. It really wasn’t the tar and feathering everyone wanted.
