Penalties

My beef with the refs were not the calls on RU, but the lack of calls on WSU. Very one-sided. WSU appeared to hold early and often, but a flag was never thrown.

Agreed. It seemed like WSU was getting away with a lot of holds in the first half.

But the penalties called against us by refs were legit. Nothing wrong with them.

One play in particular that I saw blocking WR tackled defender from behind

They threw 66 passes and not one holding penalty for them!

it was bad... and yeah, it was the lack of balance in the opinion-based calls. Facemask, out-of-bounds.. they get those wrong and there is visual evidence to discredit them. But holds? very opinion-based. I have heard one of the chop blocks was legit, but the 2nd was not.. was just a cut block.

Just watch how RU coaches interact with the refs and how the other teams interact with he refs. Other teams talk to he Refs almost on every play. Just talk to them. When Rutgers interacts it's always screaming and yelling. I have noticed this since Schiano. Eventually the refs tune you out. I've reffed and I have coached I've gotten calls and I've given calls when people discuss and don't scream and pout.

And too think this wasn't even a Jerry McGinn-reffed game. This team has regressed to the 2013 season with the penalties and maybe even worse than that year.

I thought their OL got away with some holding too. If the poster above is correct, they threw 66 times, so that is 330 blocks by an O-Lineman, and not one was a hold, a perfect 330 for 330?? I also thought some of their screens had blocking before the ball was caught. This is where coaching should come in, telling D lineman to spin if they are being held or put both arms under and up to one side to highlight it.

Some of the calls were legit, some weren't. They missed a ton of holding calls against WSU.

I think the biggest penalties were the called back TDs. I do think the officials missed a lot of holds on WSU. I'd hope Flood would work the officials in that kind of situation but I don't know if he did or not. I'm guessing they were PAC12 officials.

Bottom line we were very undisciplined today - calls were legit IMO - this falls on the coaching staff.

The call on Goodwin on the Grant called back TD looked bogus, at least from the replay I saw.

And why was it 15 yards?

I think they called offensive pass interference and that's a 15 yard penalty.
