Penn state to honor Joe Paterno

Are you sure? The SI article didn't mention the school's involvement, but given that this story is going national I do wonder if they did will they back track...they do seem concerned about NAMBLA or others making hay, of course the victims are totally irrelevant.

Certainly will look atrocious to the judges handling all the ongoing litigation.
100% sure

As bad and Hillary and Trump are, I don't think you can make any comparison. I would bet that either one would report child rape if they knew about it and I don't think either one would allow it to go on if they had the power to stop it.

Not sure what they are accomplishing here.

This is too much for the casual viewer and not enough for the JoeBots.

Paterno exemplifies why CFB is the most corrupt entity in America. He ruled the state of PA.

If Capone were alive today, he would be in CFB. You can get away with anything.

Paterno enabled abuse of innocent boys so that he could win few football games.

It is not Paterno that is guilty; it is the football culture in America that is guilty.

You're way off. There may be a lot of corruption, but there's no body coaching today that would allow child rape to go on. That's a type of evil that only JoPa could pull off.

vkj's 100% sure is right.

It's you guys that don't get it. They truly believe he's innocent. Doesn't matter what pops up they will justify it away. It's like Hillary's emails. Their supporters are never going to waiver. Being shocked by it only causes you too look silly.

Looks like a political agenda in this thread , so I'll counter their scenarios with this:
There's the Cult of Joe Ped that defends him and claims Paterno done no wrong,
then there's the Donnie Fraud Followers that think Trump University was legitimate
and Donnie don't lie.
Both refuse to see the truth despite the ev
Hillary is like Freeh trying to show the truth , but being maligned and lied about by Donnie's cult like their hero lies about everything .
The Trump Cult refuses to admit Donnie is a fraud and a liar, just like the Cult of Joe refuses to admit he knew and was part of the cover-up.

Bill is getting the hate from the fraud followers like BOB did from the cult .
What he did to his marriage was terrible, but for the sake of their child and the family values they both worked on , the marriage was saved. Trump cheated on his wives and didn't look back while divorcing them , his ego caused him to destroy his marriages and not care about trying to save it. Family values means nothing to Trump the Lying Fraud

Abedin is like the Penn St student that was disgusted with the school's role in covering up for Sandusky, only instead of the cult of Joe attacking her the Donnie fraud and lie forgivers are looking for ways to put her down.

Actually, stupid gravitates to stupid.

Ya thinking the same, let's not associate either candidate, with a child rape scandal.

Joseph Vincent Paterno = greatest of all time. Success With Honor

Loius Freeh, RU Alumni = biggest fraud of all time and has no honor

Joe Knew. And you know he did. I also believe the rumors that Joe was also abusing the young boys. Why else would he cover it up?

Just in case Paternoknowers come in.

Almost as difficult for Paterno to answer is the question of why, after receiving a report in 2002 that Sandusky had abused a boy in the shower of Penn State’s Lasch Football Building, and forwarding it to his superiors, he didn’t follow up more aggressively.

“I didn’t know exactly how to handle it and I was afraid to do something that might jeopardize what the university procedure was,” he said. “So I backed away and turned it over to some other people, people I thought would have a little more expertise than I did. It didn’t work out that way.”

Fixed that for all of us. I've never seen this quote before. Joe said that?! If so, its absolutely perfect, because its so obvious what he meant.

Joe knew. I know that he knew. And you know that I know that he knew. And they know that you know that I know that he knew.

@NJHoopsHaven: The Paterno cultists are an absolute freakshow. When we colonize Mars, they go first.

It's not like the guy was some flawed sort of hero.

He was a jerk from day 1. He was a win at all costs, screw everyone else prick. He hid behind his folksy exterior.

Joe Paterno was a macchiavellian scumbag his whole life with an aw shucks facade.

He knew about the child rape. Didn't care and decided he could cover it up because he was Joe Paterno.

Banished Sandusky and allowed him to continue his actions as long as Joe dodn't have to deal with it.

Never was anything more than the tin pot dictator of Happy Valley.

I. Don't. Think. He. Is.

at. least. i. hope.not.

But, you can never tell with the cult.

Some Penn State fans that post here are fine by me, they do not seem to be too crazy but then you have that other board, with the "kids were asking for it" and "Sandusky was framed" posts. The FBI should monitor that board.

pretty much

You have to wonder what Joe told those VA coaches when they came to talk to Sandusky after the National Championship.

He knew about inappropriate behavior as far back as the 70s as the unsealed documents show. He allowed a grown man to sleep with an underage, unaffiliated boy, during the bowl game, he was told on numerous occasions and once by his assistant coach of things that would raise alarm by anyone.

Just because he gave money back to the university and left a buffet for not charging him correctly, does not make him infallible. He should have been hung for allowing this. Every victims group in the country should be up in arms over this

They are sick. Do they go to an Academic Institution that plays football or do they go to a Football factory that has some academics? There are alot of good PSU students/alums. They must be sick to their stomachs. Doesn't the alumni association and administration understand the quote that "Nobody is bigger than the program?"

Who said this?

"I ordinarily would have called people right away, but it was a Saturday morning and I didn't want to interfere with their weekends."

how about this one, 'Consequently, out of the 10 young boys that Sandusky would be convicted of sexually assaulting, most of them were abused after he was investigated in 1998[110] — at least five of them were assaulted "at Penn State’s football facilities and other places on campus after May 1998".

Paterno was a scumbag

Yeah, but he won so many football games !!!!!

Penn State's disdain for the victims is disgusting. They have no shame whatsoever. The culture over there hasn't learn a damn thing.

It is good that Penn State is getting torn apart on twitter by people from all over the country in every fan base in every conference. NO ONE but Penn State fans think this is a good move. NO ONE.

NCAA really screwed up when they rolled back the sanctions, they should be ashamed of themselves!

Says Schiano knew in this article per McQueary.....also highlights the inconsistencies in Joes' testimony

http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/testim...oe-paterno-knew-child-abuse/story?id=41808614

yeah.. PER McQueary.. double hearsay. McQueary is saying that Bradley told him Schiano saw something.. Bradley and Schiano both say NO. Why would anyone beleive McQueary who seems to want to spread the guilt around. McQueary has millions of dollars at stake in his lawsuit regarding lost earning potential as a whistleblower... so he has t make up a story where he actually blew the whistle.

Actually McQueary is the OPPOSITE of a whistleblower. His silence got him PAID in the form of a job and promotion.

Most people know my stance on this whole thing but I think you have to be careful throwing out the documents from the 70s as something to add to your opinion on how Paterno handled the McQueary incident. All of the stuff that has come out since 2011 has been hot garbage and refuted as such. Could it have merit? Sure. Does it have merit based on what we have learned once the documents were unsealed? No way.
