Pitt vs PSU

Asked a buddy who is a PSU fan if he was going? His response.....both suck.
I'm gonna root hard for Pitt but one thing Franklin does well is beat teams with similar or less talent. PSU wins by 3.

Until coming here I had no idea this game was on this week...it shows how far off the radar this "rivalry" has fallen...That being said, may Pitt destroy the cult!

I predict a meltdown on the BWI board if the Nits lose.
Same on panther-lair if Pitt loses.

Think the spread is like PSU +5 r so. I dont see it. I think they cover and probably win outright

Knight no disrespect just an FYI.

CBS Sports ranked the Top 15 B1G Football games to be played this year.

CBS ranked the Pitt-Penn State gameas the 8th most important game to be played in the B1G.

Aside from the "in-state rivalry" which does exit, the game will be widely viewed by many conference members because it pits an ACC Conference member versus a B1G Conference member (contribute to conference bragging rights).

The game will be featured on ESPN at noon.

This game will generate much more interest than matches with Villanova or Kent State.

Thank you for your support and will return the support when you guys play the cult.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Although I usually root for the big 10 in out of conference games, PU is the exception, so go Pitt!

My prediction is a Pitt win.

The cult is actually afraid of an emerging Pitt football program and will say it is business as usual for Pitt which is not the case now.

WHY

Pitt has a new Chancellor (Patrick Gallagher received his Phd in Physics from Pitt) who is committed to the resurgence of the Pitt football program.
Consider the fact that after the Chancellor was appointed he let the AD go.
Paul Chryst was then leaving to go to Wisconsin.
Chancellor Gallagher had a committee installed to recommend HC candidates for the Pitt football position.
Gallagher personally interviewed the candidates and selected coach Narduzzi and told him he is committed to the resurgence of Pitt football and will provide the resources necessary to make it happen.

After hiring the football coach, Chancellor Gallagher had the committee come up with a list of AD candidates.
The Chancellor personally interview the AD candidates and selected the new AD.
Informing him that he was looking for a guy to contribute to the resurgence of Pitt football and he will provide the resources necessary to make it happen.

Pitt's ACC membership will help significantly in addition to the fact that Pitt only funds 19 Div 1 NCAA sports programs (compared to 34 at Penn State) and football and basketball (revenue sports) will be featured.

I believe Pitt will have about 50 recruits attending the game including 12 recruits from the 2018 class.

I believe Coach Narduzzi is a better Coach (including player development) than Franklin.

Many reasons for optimism for Pitt sports going forward.

Let the games begin.

Ummm, it's the second game of the season. He'd have to go .500 or below to get fired.

Shh, don't use logic. Ash needs 5 years minimum to get his guys in the system, but since Franklin hasn't won a national championship in the first two years he's on the hot seat.

I think Penn State wins this one over our (Maryland's) designated "primary rival" back in the ACC. Good luck to both teams, should be a good one...

Your resources aren't the problem. The problem is that no one gives a shet about PITT football.

Have to say I miss the yearly Pitt-WVU game back in the Big East days.

Scheduled them for a 2 game series starting in 2022.

Actually, would like to set up a schedule oscillating between Penn State and WVU for OOC games.

I believe the AD's are at least looking at it.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

LOL!!!!

I guess you won't be one of the 70,000 fans attending the game or watching on ESPN.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

In all seriousness, when it is pointed out that you need an on campus stadium...which I believe is virtually impossible to do...PITT fans tell you they have world class facilities that they share with the Steelers. Are you talking about better academic centers, housing, practice facilities and such for football or more money for coaches?

If Pedd State doesn't win, there's a good chance that kjb and the rest of the cult go batshet crazy. Stay tuned, lol.

I wasn't kidding. There are some serious rumors that Narduzzi is coming off as a complete nutjob in the lead-up to this game.

If PITT doesn't win there is a good chance Narduzzi goes batshet crazy. Rumor is that he's already close to the deep end about this game.

Oh stop. He's a Dantonio protege and a defensive guru.. He will end up being a very good coach. It's not easy to win at Pitt

In all seriousness, talk to your Penn State brethren about their "day game" football experience at Heinz Field (post game) and all the surrounding amenities to be enjoyed.

Visiting Florida State fans who have never been to Pittsburgh raved about how great the trip to Heinz and Pittsburgh and will come again.

That would be tasty. Wish we could do something similar with Pitt & WVU, but then again . . . . . eh, scratch the WVU part

Based on what exactly? Being a great DC or OC does not mean you automatically are a great HC.

You're right, it isn't easy to win at PITT. Exactly my point and why they won't be going anywhere.

Penn State ended PITT relevance in football in 1981 and they never recovered.

You didn't answer my question.

My Dad grew up in Mt. Washington, I live an hour from Cranberry and have a place at Seven Springs. I'm very familiar with Pittsburgh as a city. It's a great city. I think Cleveland is a very nice city as well. That doesn't mean I think Cleveland State basketball is ever going to be relevant.

Pitt football is reemerging as a football power whether you believe it or not.

You can watch it happen starting tomorrow.

The Penn State cultist are fearful of this fact.

Joe Pa is gone and you have a coach who has not demonstrated he is capable of sustaining the Penn State program as in the past (accusations of molestations/cover up etc aside-will let the courts decide the truth.)

Penn State football is in decline.

Emerging Football programs at Rutgers, Maryland and Pitt will all contribute to the decline
of Penn State football.

Penn State will never be anything more than a mid level B1G football program.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!
