Well, considering Pete took up the space that could be used for football, I thought it was relevant to the discussion.
We can agree to disagree and move on. You believe PITT football has struggled because of lack of resources and I completely disagree. I believe it's because people don't care about PITT football.
Win and they will come.
Let me address another "urban legend" with respect to the Pittsburgh Steeler's and attendance.
Since you are from Pittsburgh, I will give you a ref to an article (12/14/13) written by Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette entitled "On the Steelers: How low can attendance go."
Excerpts:
"Last Sunday they (Steelers) experienced their smallest crowd at Heinz 52,489 with 13,000 no shows. That dragged down average attendance this season to 59,376 which would be the lowest since moving into Heinz in 2001."
The previous low average attendance at Heinz occurred during the Steelers 6-10 season of 2003 (59,698).
In 1999 the 6-10 Steelers had 3 games below 50,000 fans including one at 39,428.
Lose and they won't.
Let me also point out another big difference between our school with respect to entire student body. Pitt has a total student body of about 35,000 while Penn State has a total student body of about 90,000.
That translates into significantly more alums which can attend a football game.
However, although significantly smaller than Penn State, Pitt has an Endowment of $3.6 billion and conducts approximately $900 million in sponsored research. These numbers are slightly higher than Penn State (LOL just thought I would mention these facts.)
Agreed no point in further discussion.
Let the games begin.
HAIL TO PITT!!!!
