Player participation for The Rate Bowl?

As of today I don’t believe a single player on the current (see: not in portal/transferred) roster has “opted out” and pretty safe to assume a lot of guys are a lot healthier than they were 3 weeks ago. I also highly doubt anyone who WENT to Arizona will end up not playing, unless do to injury, but that’s just a guess.

BTW- I can see this being similar to the 06 game against them. They have a bunch of players that aren't going to be there and outside of Colorado- their wins were pretty ehhhh
Looks like we are coming into the game as close to fully intact as we can be and Greg usually does very well planning for bowl games.

It’s a “Schiano Special” no doubt!!!

Sure does and he does a great job with the high character and culture kids . Our guys want to play as a unit and stay intact as much as possible.

Pretty sure everyone on the team traveled, since there are no restrictions on number of players allowed to travel, since it is a bowl game, I know Brian Felter traveled & he is rehabbing from ACL surgery, so just because someone traveled to Arizona does not mean that they will play in the. game

Yeah I was thinking that even guys out for the season should be allowed to attend and enjoy all the gifts and pleasantries. I'm not sure if that would include all of the walk-on players but certainly guys on scholarship.

one of the cool things GS 1.0 used to do was allow all of his Sr Starters to take the first class seats on the flights. It is still the same catered foot and no booze but the comfort of those seats and the symbolism is great

Regardless of whether or not KM plays, just having him down there as an extra coach/big brother figure for the younger RBs is a great thing and says a lot about him and the culture of the program. Glad that it seems like Powell (who didn't play last year due to injury) and Miller (his only bowl opportunity) will be playing at least a little bit.

If monangai.. or anyone else,, wanted the bowl trip but not to play I'd allow it.. hell, I'd encourage it.. I want these guys who may be pulling down NFL money soon to feel part of the Rutgers family FOREVER.
Good for you. I completely disagree. play or stay home. fine with the later but don't pull that BS.

There's also a big difference between just taking a free trip and hanging out versus playing some sort of role, like it sounds like KM was doing in practice today. A lot of these bowl sit outs also just stay away from the team and have moved on with their lives. But if a guy decides not to play because of his future considerations (completely understandable in KM's case if that's the decision), and is there as an extra coach/mentor/big brother type to support his guys, that says a lot about the culture and the player himself.

OK. I get that. So today's model is don't risk it and play..after all the risk it and play he has shown to build his character and fan appreciation for his career..to now take that route. I understand but don't like this crap.

It's the new model. My day character didn't have a price threshold. Look, he's a great kid and I wish him all the best. Just a bit surprised given his commitment.

I think he just isn’t practicing and saving his body. I bet he plays and if he breaks a couple and or scores, he will call it a career and sit.
