Player participation for The Rate Bowl?

I think he just isn’t practicing and saving his body. I bet he plays and if he breaks a couple and or scores, he will call it a career and sit.

Its certainly possible. Weve had so many practice injuries that it wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

I hope he doesn’t play. We have depth at RB and I can’t stomach it if he got hurt in this game. It would be too “Rutgers”.

So like many other board narratives, does the "players skipping bowls are selfish, they are abandoning their teammates and NFL GM should question their commitment and consider not drafting them" finally ends when Rutgers players do the same things?

meh.. let us see what happens when it is time to pay up.. you know insurance companies
Plus it “disability”insurance, so if a player gets a serious injury, lets say an ACL or something similar and is not “disabled” but can’t play for 6 months to a year, will the player be covered? Guess it depends on which level of insurance is taken out?

Good for you. I completely disagree. play or stay home. fine with the later but don't pull that BS.
To disagree Is fine, but this is not a time for hard feelings or getting even
If Kyle wants to be there as a spectator, or semi coach, fan etc
That is absolutely ok, I think most fans are ok with it

The ACL will hurt draft status so the insurance should be significant

You keep bringing this up, but I feel that I have read an equal number of posts supporting players who opt out.

Yeah, if the coach or remaining players had an issue, then okay, he shouldn't be there. But to me it shows that the program's culture is sound. I have absolutely no problem with it.

There were.

Yet there are also zero posts calling KM selfish and that he shouldn't get drafted if he sits.

Maybe it's just a coincidence and none of "outraged over sitting out" people have posted lately or seen that this might be happen.

Seems "too quiet." If everyone was playing , I would expect to hear more. As such, I do expect a few not to play. And I certainly wont be outraged - its the new norm. Plus, we have solid backups and 3s at every position so it would be good to see some of them play too -

According to todays’s practice report on NJ.com, KM was on field but not dressed and Eric Rogers and Tyler Needham were not on the field. All the other senior players, Powell, Pierce, Longerbeam, Dixon. Miller, etc were all dressed and participated in practice.
Lewis?

These player insurance policies are tricky. You can get the either at a very low upfront cost or deferment.
The it is layered on payouts based on injury.
If a top pick gets injured and there is an obvious drop in round because of it, it is put into place. If a mid- lower round guy is injured- they may only cover if you go undrafted because of the injury.
Usually, if taken by a mid- lower round and you don’t get injured. But don’t get drafted- they do not require you to pay the premium.
If you do or don’t get hurt and get drafted, the premium is due upon signing your contract.

In my book- KM does not have to play. He carried us here, he stayed with us after last year when I am sure he was getting approached by elites and he is on that practice field right now doing everything else possible to help our team. I bet that his belief in the young RB's that played a lot backing him up this year also helped with that decision as he knows he is not depleting our running game if he does not play.

He’s earned the right to sit out, it’s a smart business move, and in all honesty, he’d be crazy to play in this game

Thankful for all he did for us and his time here on the banks, and like I said in another thread, he will forever be a loyal son

1. You sign an NIL you play in all games including the Bowl
2. High profile players can get Insurance for playing in a Bowl if they want. Wasn’t just discovered by Sanders..been around for decades.

There isn’t a policy around that is going to cover a kid who isn’t 100% an NFL projected starter for the amount of money a kid like KM could possibly lose with a major injury that ends his career.
No underwriter in the world is approving one he could afford.
See a few posts above, I gave a high level breakdown on how these work.

Why are you posting this crap? Why are you so intent on criticizing Rutgers fans on this board?

You are dead wrong.. people here ARE disagreeing about him or others playing.. you think @DHajekRC84 posts mean he thinks KM wouldn't be selfish for not playing?

I think people, in general, are less concerned now because it is so commonplace and it all averages out. I'm sure KState has players sitting out for NFL prospects or even for transfer reasons.

Kansas State, Rutgers players to watch

Kansas State will be missing its star running back DJ Giddens, who has declared for the NFL. Expect sophomore RB Dylan Edwards (350 rushing yards, three TDs) to get more touches in Giddens's place. The Wildcats also are led by QB Avery Johnson and WR Jayce Brown. Sophomore wideout Brown has caught five TDs, a team-best 42 receptions and 763 yards. Johnson has 2,517 passing yards and 22 TDs and is the Wildcats second-best rusher with 548 yards and six TDs on the ground. On defense, Kansas State's senior DE Brendan Mott is the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year (conference-best 8.5 sacks). The Wildcats' Austin Romaine is their top tackler (89), tied for second in the Big 12 with three forced fumbles, two of which became game-winners. Defensive back Jacob Parrish will also miss the game after declaring for the draft.
Rutgers is led by senior running back and the school's second all-time leading rusher Kyle Monangai. He reached career highs this season on 256 carries with 1,279 rushing yards and a team-high 13 total touchdowns through 11 games. Monangai earned All-Big Ten First Team honors in both the coach's and media votes but hinted he might sit out the game. As of Monday, it remained unclear. Senior quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis has thrown for 2,459 passing yards, 17 passing TDs and rushed for three. The Scarlet Knights senior WR Dymere Miller had a team-high 57 receptions for 731 yards and four TDs. Junior linebacker Dariel Djabome is the Big Ten's fifth-best tackler with 102, three sacks and two forced fumbles.

KSU - has a SLEW of guys “opting out” most of whom aren’t injured or going to be drafted in the 1st 3 rounds (thread on RT)

RU - ONE guy so that his ribs (injured vs SC) can continue to heal and (apparently) TOLD BY HIS HC to do so.

There a difference fellas. Big time.

Saw the same thing...they have a ton of guys not playing in the game.

NFL is a portal.
Correct. The idea that K-State is missing a bunch of players and we're not is false. Plus our best player opted out and the line moved even further in K-State's favor to -7 and moneyline -267. It's clear what the experts think, so now we're about to find out who's right on the field.

The line opened at 9.5. I took RU ML at +245. Right now it’s +215.

I think it opens up the passing game and forces Greg to be less restrictive which is good

If AK can get 250yds, we win this

I think Raymond is going to be a bona fide weapon next year.

I'm sure he would like to be playing so I don't doubt there are good reasons for staying out
Your last games are the ones you remember most.
TV networks flash logos in movies when drama is highest - the emotions/focus open the subconscious to impressions.
Last games cause a lot of juices to flow - players will remember a lot of incidental things along with the larger narrative.
I could never remember scores, W/L records etc but I even remember the skies from my last games.
Missing last games sucks so I'm sure be KM will feel it
