I said no....BUT.......This team under Pikiell seems to get hot at a certain point in the season. If we can catch a hot streak where we rip off 4- 5 in a row, where Acuff, Jwill , Martini etc are draining 3s, that could be enough to get us in with 18-20 wins in total ( pre big 10 tournament).

If 25 scouts were in attendance it lends more credence to the idea that playing RU is like the other team’s Super Bowl. It does seem like our opponents are hyped up an extra notch against us. Every RU game is a showcase contest.

The thing is there are nba players everywhere..rutgers isnt special that everyone is targeting a team not even projected in the tourney right now

Why would you listen to anything politi says,? He's merely a writer trying to get readers. He's not an expert, former player. He' s merely a panderer.
Anybody who has watched Rutgers games know the strength and weakness of the team which mirror what Politi stated in his article.Media analysts have made similar comments.

Where are all these NBA players at the college level? These are 2 of the top 3 out of perhaps 2000 freshman recruits and are over 5500 D1 basketball players. There are only 30 1st Round NBA Draft picks of which perhaps 20 from college ranks and the rest international. RU may not be a projected tourney team at the moment, but you're high if you don't believe that the opposition is not supercharged based on the constant hype of Dylan and Ace on the same team and to try and showcase themselves against these guys and in front of the hoard of scouts at each game. RU has really never had this level of attention. It's certainly part of the equation unless you think 18-22 year olds play like robots.

11 games in and you are giving up? Glad your Dad didn't give up in 1973.
Read the F’n thread before you get personal.
I’m the first response that VOTED YES we can definitely make it, and voted YES!!!

“Not A Chance” was in response to the poster who thought way may get special consideration because we have two lottery picks

It is also easier to teach someone how to play defense than how to shoot better.
Months of practice and you struggle defending the pick n roll and the curl, you still allow cutters to beat you across the middle from the weak side, you don't help on the baseline, and you don't get a body on someone when a shot goes up. Com'on.

guess what...it doesnt matter

check out Pitino getting left out last year
I’m not at all sure NCAA is thrilled with Pitino. I can make a convincing argument that Pitino is closer to LSU on the list of naughty players.
RU probably on the list of nice players.
Harper’s great family story and a more compelling story.

Sorry. It was a thread about whether one thought we would make tournament or not. It read as if that was what you were answering. Sorry for not reading it right.

CBS and the selection committee may penalize us for pushing Simpson out the door

18-13...10-10 in league lean towards OUT given there will be nothing to show for out of conference and a bevy of Big 10 schools all around that 10-10/11-9 mark
Need 20 wins to make the tourney. 18-13 won't even get us much bubble talk.

The D would have to pick up significantly for RU to get into tourney. Also rebounding will be a constant issue
Equally important is having a third scoring threat on the court with Bailey and Harper. The margin for error remains slim with the flaws on defense and the lack of 3 point scoring from Hayes,Martini and Acuff.

Right now I say more likely no than yes.

Hoping that we get better defensively and quickly.

I think it's an open question whether we make the Big Ten tournament honestly. We were bottom 3 last year which would not have cut it. Given the level of parity, it's not clear that 7 or so wins will be enough. We will have to play very well in our conference home games.

If the goal is “20 wins” we should not have scheduled the Vegas games and road Kenn St. Next year, just schedule 10 RAC games against St. Whoever from PA.

The committee would keep us out at 18 wins after seeing the A&M and Alabama performances, great games and close losses against great teams who have beaten other great teams, but would have otherwise put us in at 20 wins if those 2 were against Texas State and Alabama A&M ?

This begs the question.... what is more valuable overall in tournament selection?
A. - 5 Point loss to top 10 Alabama Team
B. - 10 Point win against bottom level Merrimack (or Wagner/St. Pete/Monmouth)

Which holds more value in the eyes of the committee?

Let me jog peoples memory....committee didn't even care when we had a W taking away from us in the OSU game. It was a L. Have we eveer heard the committee talking about close losses?

I think if we're even sniffing the bubble, Ace/Dylan's star power gets us over the finish line and into the field
Agree with this; have to at least get close to force the committee to make a decision. I am definitely hesitant about our chances; win December though, and my confidence level rises.
