So you're saying 17 walkons may not make the team?

You will see several departures after spring practice. Then often new walk on never show up. It is very common for kids to back out and take money at a smaller school between now and fall camp. Then on top of that you know a few guys will miss camp with injuries which doesn't count towards the 105. Those who don't make the cut will just be back after the first game.

You are limited to 105 practicing in camp. Then the rest may join the team after the first day of classes or first game which ever is first. If a guy is hurt and not practicing then they don't count towards that 105 and can be replaced if they get hurt.

That seems like a large number under normal circumstances but you may be right in that it appears this will not be a normal year.
In a normal year 2-3 seem to transfer out. I just have a feeling that if a few guys aren't falling in line, they will be shown the door. I don't think Ash will be afraid to make an example of someone.

I'm guessing you'll be proven correct.

From everything we hear it seems apparent the staff is pushing these kids now so that when Spring Practice starts, they'll already know who they want and who will be advised to look elsewhere.

I don't think we are currently at 85 returning and new scholarship players.

This seems low. Please show me the official stats confirming your statement. Or is this your BS analysis?

I am going to guess that the number this year will be similar to other years, perhaps one or two more due to a change in coaches. I would be surprised by a mass exodus.

My impression is that most of the shirkers were already filtered out of the program by the "law enforcement agencies". We have a good core of high quality kids who are mature and willing to do what it takes to be successful, so we might even find less transfers than normal. My guess is that it will be similar.

In other words, I am offended by your insinuation that our returning players are too soft to play under Coach Ash.

Check the new videos. Coach Ash is incorporating the returning players into his RU promotional videos. Maybe you should consider doing that too.

I hope they can find a ship for the kicker asap. Kicking is critical. I will be concerned until he is offered a ship or reports in August.

I believe this is where there is a distinction between WO and PWO. PWO is guaranteed a spot on the 105 as long as there are no outside issues.
