Sometimes it pays to disagree with your boss. And if your boss is the president of Rutgers University, it pays really, really well.

Debasish "Deba" Dutta, chancellor of Rutgers' New Brunswick campus, abruptly resigned this week, saying his views for the position don't align with the university's.

Now, after just one year on the job, Dutta will get a $480,000 sabbatical -- even though the university was under no contractual obligation to offer it.
